Last part is rather not true , at least with Basil example because he doesn't care about damage what he caused during sleep.

Basil just wanted to take his nap without these annoying ponies constantly waking him. Then Rainbow Dash kicked him in the snout. Cue defense mode.

Even if he knew I don't think he would care. He wasn't being actively malicious, on the other hand if emerged a hundred years later to find a barren landscape where there were once verdant forest he wouldn't give it a second thought.

I don't think scaring Spike away would work. Look how nuts he went in this episode, over stuff that he normally doesn't care about. Y'think a dragon in hoard mode is gonna ignore A GARGANTUAN cave of gems, even after getting kicked out?

Basil propably don't give a shit about damage what his snoring cause, ponies in Ponyville (and Equestria) are lucky that problem was dealed with it. Everyone outside Equestria must be more screwed with dragons, especially considering today episode.

@Death I don't think Celestia would've wanted Basil go if she knew that he was just gonna go wreak untold havok on another country. It would've been easier to just kill him. It'd save LOADS of people (including Basil himself) hassle.

from this I conclude that dragon smoke is only detrimental to ponies, not other races. It's ok for him to sleep ANYWHERE other than Equestria

That doesn't make any sense. A more likely explanation is that this is a show for young girls so the violent solution will either A.) Not be considered, or B.) Not work.

For me, the smoke being only harmful to ponies. What is harmful to ponies is likely to be harmful to a lot other mammals (at least). Without more evidence to the contrary, the smoke seems like it's meant to be analogous to exhaust fume. Tell me that's harmful to only a specific subset of living species.

And it still made up exuse that only ponies and other creatures in Equestria have problems with dragon smoke vile others are imune.

It lether pancing Basil, I don't like that, because it make him, and don't whant Basil to be annoying.

And maybe Celestia don't whanted to kill dragon because it wasn't good reason for killing him , and it could piss off other dragons.

It just seems weird. If Basil's smoke is harmful to EVERYTHING, then that means there's nowhere he'd be able to sleep. (we were told his snoring would blanket all of Equestria, a COUNTRY)

What kind of life would that be? Going from country to country and being kicked out everytime you try to sleep, you'd go insnane! Why would Celestia want to subject something to that kind of fate, or subject another country to this problem

Now hold on: Basil was never actually that mean. I mean sure, he was mad when Dash kicked him in the face, but he proved to be pretty nice when Fluttershy actually got through to him. What makes you think he wouldn't have cared at all if he came out to learn that he had accidentally killed or relocated hundreds of ponues?

There's probably pretty big swatches of unihabited territory where he could nap. Mabye he's so old that the last time he came by Equestria was uninhabited.

I'd honestly prefer another one-shot to Trixie. She was neat precisely because she was only there once. Bringing her back and expanding on her... the writers could pull it off, I know, but it would just sort of ruin the charm I think. I really want a new one-off villain.

It's called being a f**king Dragon. I'm sure before then nothing really tried to get him to move because they were afraid of him(also the surrounding inhabitants may not have known what was the source of the smoke anyway.

Well he certainly didn't care when Twilight tried to negotiate.

Twilight herself said that Equestria couldn't survive 100 years in a dark haze. Why would Celestia submit another country to that, when sshe could end the problem THERE.

She's either consciously endangering another country, or she's submitting a dragon to slowl go insane and die via sleep deprevation

@ginger There must be places where his snoring don't be problem, maybe even places like Everfree Forest. Or just like Pinkie sujested he could go to doctor and do something about this snoring.
