One of the Wonderbolts is Surprise (her hair's just a little bit darker for some reason), but the other two aren't Soarin' or Spitfire (the Soarin'-resembling one is a mare, and the Spitfire-resembling one has solid-colored hair and even appeared alongside Spitfire in "Sonic Rainboom").

Also, Lickety Split is the second pony to have a male-looking head as well as only-visible-when-eyes-aren't-open eyelashes; the first was that pony who got a bowling Cutie Mark in "The Cutie Pox". Are ponies like these supposed to be male or female?

^^Really? The mane looks like the wrong shape to be Surprise. Didn't actually notice that the Spitfire lookalike had solid hair, though.

I also had a bit of Viewer Gender Confusion, but my gut instinct was that Lickety Split was male.

I suppose that's better then nothing. She got some focus in Sisterhoove Social as well. But it's still such a shame, really.

That might be just me, though. I'm the only guy that voted Applejack for best pony.

@Red Savant: I'm not sure how her incorporating the gem into her outfit really qualifies as shipping. Incorporating a gift from someone you care about into your ensemble is a nice gesture, even if you have no romantic interest.

Anyway, my basic opinion on the episode is that it's really good. Not quite into Awesome territory, but it was definitely enjoyable, in no small part because we got an episode that focused primarily on the main cast rather than side characters.

Applejack has gotten much mre attention lately and that is always a good thing I am sure Ginger is with you on this one

want weird, earlier this week a new episode of 'Doctor and Assistant" ( A radio drama like you-tube show featuring Doctor Whooves and his assistant Ditzy Doo) had Ditzy comment that she knows a pony name Lickity Split. Wierd.

Hmm...G1 Lickety-Split was female, but Star Swirl the Bearded has proven that they aren't afraid to Gender Flip previous-gen ponies...

Also, Wonderbolt Surprise has never had the same mane-style as concept art Surprise; it's the color scheme that everyone's going by.

And speaking of the Wonderbolts, I just noticed that the three of them in this episode are the same ones Magneighto swatted away in the sixth Evolution of a Scene video. Was Evolution of a Scene foreshadowing this episode, or is this episode referencing Evolution of a Scene?

Is "Spike-Hulk" a meme yet? "Don't make me greedy. You wouldn't like me when I'm greedy."

The vet pony looked (and sounded) like a cross between Mayor Mare and Applejack. I'm calling her "Doctor Applemayor."

Am I the only one who thought "Fay Wrarity" was... kinda hot? Shushing Spike with her hoof and giving a little "I know" smile was so D'AWWWWWWWW.

I'm sure someone has already made an endless animation loop of Twilight teleporting Spike back to her. I loved that scene. Then, WTF Pinkie? Where'd she come from?

Pinkie's "shellshocked" expression later in the episode was priceless.

What if...what if Minty was gender flipped?

Rarity is...a pretty pony.

And shell shocked Pinkie was funny as hell. I kinda like seeing Pinkie freak out now.

Applejack is my favourite of the mane cast. When it comes to wanting her to get more (competent) screentime, believe me, NO ONE wants that more than me!

Oh, shush, I'm just messing with you. Still, that vote was a pretty darn unpleasant surprise.

Okay episode. I don't like that I keep thinking "oh joy, incoming influx of Rarity X Spike fanworks" detract from my experience. A couple of extrapolations:

• Apparently gems can be grown. That explains how Rarity can find gems in droves and incorporate them in clothes. Now I'm imagining grown up Spike having a gem farm outside of Ponyville for his food and trade.
• What sets off Spike's hoarding instinct? If his growth spurt happens everytime he gets greedy I can't see how growing up will be fun.
• Ponies have no book on dragons. Or they do, but I find it harder to believe that Twilight hasn't been reading up on every book on dragons upon having Spike as her assistant. The former lends credence to the "Equestria is a very closed-off society" that kegisak postulated a few pages back, which makes me uncomfortable. Alternatively dragons are incredibly hard to research, don't live in general vicinity of ponies, and not welcoming of ponies poking in so this kind of observation on their growth is understandably hard to have. Doesn't explain why Zecora knows though.

If gems are grown, there's a job for E Ps to do.

Those gems from A Dog And Pony Show are 'wild' gems...they grow randomly...farmed gems are like wine.

I'm a little annoyed that they've just announced another Apple Bloom episode, when we've yet to have a proper Applejack, Fluttershy or Pinkie episode this season. I like Apple Bloom okay, but c'mon, already.

Oh, well. AJ should get some good screentime in an Apple Bloom ep, right?

sounds more like a Granny Smith episode, which would be awesome.

Considering that gems can be grown, it lends to the possibility of Pinky's backstory being more truthful than it might first seem. If gems can be grown, there's no reason why rocks can't be grown as well.

Granted, it IS still Pinky Pie and there's still room for Unreliable Narrator, but it definitely lends evidence to her story being more true than false.

This episode put green dragon from previous Spike ep (Reginald ) in new perspective:

He whanted to kill Spike because he entered into his cave and eat some of his stuff. But what if he suspected that Spike was posesed by dragon greed instinct and could soon take all stuff and grow fast?

That... is GENIUS!!
