On that first point, it's basically the JPN way of saying lolwwwwwww :V
Indeed, that particular bit of foreshadowing was a bit of a letdown. You got distracted?
I don't want to set the world on fire, baby. I love you too much. I just want to start a big, big flame in your heart.
On the very old topic of Canterlot's society. We must remember that there were also perfectly normal ponies in the first episode. Remember? Moondancer's friends, who were inviting Twilight to come to her (presumably birthday) party?
I have a message from another time...
Eh, I've never been able to imagine Twilight as dark skinned; I've always imagined her as being really pale from never going outside. If I had to stamp an ethnicity on her, I'd probably make her Asian.
That's basically my stance on it, as well; because they're all voiced by Caucasians and because I myself am white, that's my default. I personally don't care if your interpretation of human Dash is black; it makes as much sense to me as other character interpretations I've seen, so really, go wild. I do have to agree with Kayeka, though, that making a cast multi-ethnic/-cultural simply to do so - for example, let's use Muslim Fluttershy - feels like tokening, at least to me. The idea of linking a
hijab to her shyness is really an interesting one, but it feels like quite a bit of a leap to make.

^I've only ever heard her as Numbuh 5 (and maybe as Dulcie, though it's been nearly... oh, twelve years since I've seen that show), so my brain is full of Numbuh 5 Pony.
