Fur Is Skin is in full efect in this story. I'd even say Hooves Are Skin. Also Beauty is Never Tarnished: those hooves are on the ground all the time, yet they manage to somehow remain clean. Especially egregious in Diamond Dogs: rarity got a little dusty at the beginning, but soon she was and remained squicky-clean.

As for being attracted to their "personalities"... Tell me, would you be as friendly to them if they looked less cute and if their voice actresses were terrible? If the deciding factor is personality, then nothing matters as long as the writing is good. Not the character design, not the animation, not the voice acting.

Of course, I personally have no interest in ponies. Or in anyone or anything for that matter. But I wanted to clarify this point, because both the people who get sanctimonious and the people who giggle with a gleeful sense of transgression at the clopart and clopfics somewhat annoy me. I agree entirely. Personally, I think the ponies are pretty hot and I feel no shame in saying that, but their personalities ARE a major part of it. If the ponies didn't act the way they did, I wouldn't find them NEARLY as attractive

I've got a feeling that Twilight, at the least, will have a role. I'm betting she, as a Canterlot native, will try to sway Rarity away from the choice, telling her how Canterlot isn't all it's cracked up to be. Or, at least, how it's not as superspecialfairytalecastleawesome as Rarity thinks.

Of course, her description of the place will make it sound even better to Rarity.
