I totally remember that part with the runaway baby carridge. It went on for several minutes and the three kids who ended up stopping it ended up becoming Power Rangers. That scene was played up for soooo much drama. The only way it could have been more over the top is if the army, navy, Torchwood, the EDF, and the Avengers had all been called in. To stop a runaway baby carridge.

Remember how some people were saying Scoots was going to try out to be Rainbow Dash's pet? Now she's the head of the RD fan club. I guess she got off lucky.

For the record I suspected the Mare-Do-Well was Applejack. Up until the dam scene, then I knew it was a collaberation.

It is a cartoon that rapidly changes its reality to suit the subplots or gags. Feeling Pinkie Keen has shown Twilight brush off physical threats equal to those in Dragonshy, where they were portrayed seriously and dangerous. First CWC episode showed them harmlessly fall from a height which would be dangerous in TMMDW.

I suspected immediately after the mane cast started dissing RD, so it boiled down to someone from the mane cast, Trixie or Luna. Luna is larger than MMDW, so she was out of question, and Trixie is not as physically developed. So the kick gave AJ away, the construction scene still made me think it's AJ until RD pointed out MMDW apparently knows what happens before it does. So pinkie sense. Ergo, the whole mane cast.

I'm aware of that, but even in that case, the town itself has always been sort of treated as a smalltown country community that's rather laid back. I know that Rule of Funny can cover some of the changes, but it only goes so far and I personally think it got stretch to nearly the breaking point this time around. And it wasn't for just a one-off gag either; the entire episode basically changed the feel of the town. That's just me though. It probably doesn't bug other so much; I like consistency in that sort of thing.

The "She somehow knows what's going to happen ahead of time" line made me think that the mare do well was planning everything (I thought she meant "TMMDW knows when these accidents are gonna happen and always arrives to save the day" not "she knew where the debris was going to fall")

The only thing that bugged me was the dam. The construction site was the only one of it's kind in the entire town (look at the area around the site, it still looks normal) so I figured maybe it was a new building that the mayor asked for, and everyone else in town hated it because it would clash with Ponyville's rustic aesthetic

That construction was sabotated by pony who hated new building so much.

Y'know, Fluttershy's face in this scene makes it seem like she knew exactly what she was doing:

All this grumblings (Eq D, ponychan, whatever) makes me want to know if the intended audience absolutely loves the episode, and exactly for the same reason bronies dislike it. Unlikely - I can imagine my 8 year old self being incredibly annoyed by Dash and maybe weirded out by accidents suddenly happening every 5 minutes in Ponyville - but what an irony that would have been.

Kids like stupid shit.

As a kid I enjoyed repetition (hell, I watched Teletubbies), enjoyed basically any cartoon, and loved the shit out of Jar-Jar's hilarious antics.

This is still ponies - pretty much the only ongoing Western cartoon I actually watch - so even the worst episode would be better than some of the current series' best episodes. Again, I can't imagine myself going all "I can't imagine why would I watch this episode of a cartoon. I'd rather study" as a kid.
