I'm not really a fan of covers. I'm especially not really a fan of genderswapped covers.

I'm just glad I'm not the only person who was thrown off by the OOC portrayal of Ponyville and/or Equestria. We've gotten 30-some-episodes of a medieval-cum-Renissance-plus-magic technology level, and suddenly we've got construction equipment, a hydroelectric dam, and an electric grid? If they've got electricity, why does Twilight use fireflies and candles for illumination? And it's not as if tech-equivalent alternatives couldn't have been used...

Anyway, not a bad episode, but not among my faves for S2 so far. Partially for the schitzo tech, partially because ponies-as-superheroines feels odd, and partially for being a second Rainbow Dash episode — and given how good "May The Best Pet Win!" was, another RD episode would have to be spectacular to justify starring her back-to-back, IMO. The only thing that saves it for me are the superhero nudges, especially the Batman: The Animated Series Shout Outs.

I will admit that Rainbow Dash sort of falls in and out as my favorite. To be honest, I like the version of the character that was introduced in the first episode, shows up briefly early on in Fall Weather Friends and appears in full force in Sonic Rainboom. But I'm kind of disappointed how 90% of the time, she's just the Team Jerk.

A bit of a shame, since the first few episodes of the season seemed to imply they were stepping away from that characterization, but Luna Eclipsed and these last two brought it back in full force.

I have no problem with OOC of Ponyville or more Schizo Tech. I liked this episode , more that few other from this season and this episode is not amon weakest from both seasons.

I think I watch it again just to see more of Mare Do Well.

There seems to more backlash on YouTube, EQD, and elsewhere than usual, but I don't know if it's at true Base Breaker levels yet. I like to think the brony community as a whole is a lot better at avoiding Fan Dumb than that - the only thing that in my mind could even qualify as a Base Breaker in the entire series is the reaction to Feeling Pinkie Keen (which is easily my least favorite episode, but not for the reasons most will give you).

Base Breaker is character trope.

There is one other problem with YMMV tropes, they shouldn't be added just after episode ended. We need wait at least few days before posting any audience reaction tropes.

Well Fran, you pop on here every time you see a new episode, right? and that's every couple of hours. Your reactions largely mimic those of the fanbase thus far, so it's like a little 'where we've been' montage. Every so often we just get a little brief reminder of a past week, slowly leading up to this saturday's episode.

And to be honest, the occasional pop-in that isn't something completely inane and said just for the sake of saying something is a welcome change of pace. I'm sorry, I'm not in a great mood right now. I don't mean to be too rude.

Though in retrospect, unless the other Manes come clean to the rest of town, this episode ends pretty compromisingly for Rainbow Dash. She's last seen by the rest of Ponyville chasing off their new, better hero, who presumably will never make an appearance again. So the Alternate Character Interpretation natter listed on the episode's YMMV tab really doesn't help a whole lot.

Has crowfall seen the episode yet?

Now that I've slept on it, my opinion of the new episode is becoming more conflicted.

Some mentioned that it was though Ponyville itself was acting OOC, and I think I can see what they mean. The tech level got odd, what with cranes and dams and such (though there has to be some way of putting up buildings I guess...). And suddenly everyone and their mothers are having accidents? But hey...rule of funny I guess.

Dash? Hmmm, I'm starting to dislike her less after this episode. She got put in her place, each of the others showed her up nicely (including the E Ps! Viva la Earthies!). And her shoulder poping was very cute I have to admit. Sadly, no Tank. Grrrr.

Moral of the story was alright I suppose. Though the others went to great and extreme lengths to get the point across. But I must remind myself that this is a kid's cartoon. They must be a bit simplistic.

Anyway, it was still a decent episode. Bring on next week.

The only thing I have trouble believing is the dam. Seriously, where did THAT come from?

Also, this episode proves that the Balloon really CAN be used by members of the general public, and not just the mane cast

Also, the more I watch the snapisodes, the more I become sure that ponies are better when they act out of character, if only for the change of pace.

Inane and random is who I am. Or rather that's a persona of me, kept partially so that when I have to say something more serious, it bears impact.
