Ok, umm I just got to ask. Are we just assuming that Ponyville has all of these laws (and apparently there are a lot of them) that just are just not enforced? And is Trottingham such a crime ridden place (compared to Ponyville anyway) that Peeler really needed to be such a hardass?

Ponyville seems like a smaller town, so I can't imagine they'd need to be as tough on crime as the big cities are. You've seen Hot Fuzz, right? Similar situation (except without all the murder)

Well, someone more versed in British geography might be able to have a better idea what the Nottingham area is like now. I think it's large, so there'd be more reason to enforce it than in a little town like Ponyville. It's a tiny little place, so nopony would likely be too inclined towards crime, I'd think.

You'd be suprised...

One time, the Nottingham police had to bring out the guns (remember that British police are usually unarmed) for regualr patrols, because of gun toting drug dealers.

I know...

Trottingham is like Victorian Era London...lot's of street crime, especially pickpocketing.

Really I'm just having a hard time thinking that Ponyville would have all of these laws that are apparently not enforced. I would just assumed that Ponyville just doesn't have them. In fact I almost think it would be funnier if Peeler started enforcing all of these laws that he would expect Ponyville to have only to find out that they don't.

Maybe there are standard laws put in place for ALL of Equestria? But in practice they act as more of a set of guidelines than as rules to be brutally enforced.

I imagine it's more a force of habit. Just like, he's so used to all those laws being in place and telling people to follow them he forgets when they aren't in place.

I can see that leading to CMFIS, almost. Just having him laying around, moaning, "What do I do?"

I wanna LIVE in america eventually. I love almost everything about it. I don't think my body could handle its food for long though (if my waistline after visiting New York is any indication)

Meh, take as many pot-shots as you like. I know that sports names are the least a person can complain about the U.S.

ey, see now right there: Canadian food is not the same as American food.

Okay granted they're similar, but there are still a lot of unique dishes. Noone is letting Truducken north of the border, for example. That shit doesn't fly.

But yeah, America does have it's up points. I just take issues with the inherit selfishness of a culture built entirely on capatalism, but eh. Odds are I'll wind up working down there, so I may as well get over it.

Yeah, it's the americans who are super patriotic. Canadians are still proud of our country, but we're more humble about it. Basically America brags, while Canadians give spirited defense. It's when you insult the country when the patriotism comes through.

And don't worry about the food thing; I figured you just had the wrong country in mind. But the biggest way to ignite a Canadian is to confuse Canada for America.

We are going through a pretty harsh period of Cultural Cringe at the moment so overall patriotic fervor is down (though that depends on were you are in the US).

Being Northern Irish, we have different problems...the wrong surname can put you in the hospital...and we have bonfire days in the summer, that cost 22 million in riot control last year.
