I honestly don't like the way people hold the Fluttershy incident as the WORST thing Gilda did.

There are plenty (and I mean PLENTY) of perfectly legitimate reasons to hate Gilda, but that IMO was not one of them.

She didn't know who the fuck she was! [lol] RD knew who FS was and still tried to prank her regardless at one point. It took SOMEONE ELSE to stop her.

btw: the pun... IT BURNS!!

Flapjack made me respect puns.

Seriously, watch Pun Times with Punsie Mc Hale. It was glorious.

Am I the only person who doesn't dislike and/or have a deep hatred towards any character?

I actually prefer the diamond dogs, i found there voices hilarious. And I don't hate Twist as a character, I just can't stand her voice, and it's not just the lisp.

I'd love to see any of the antagonists from S1 return, douche, show off, or irredeemable Fluttershy upsetting conglomeration of pure dickishness. They were at least fairly fun to watch.

@Japanese Teeth, I pretty much completely agree with your assessment of the antagonists. I tend to give Gilda a little more leeway, but that's because I really want to see what see what she and Dash were up to in flight school (lol sexings) and I want to see Dash have more of a reaction than "well you're a bitch now, so get out."

I think the reason why puns often suck is two reasons.

1. The obvious ones get recycled all the time.

2. People say them with a heavy emphasis on the pun instead of just letting it glide by. Don't Explain the Joke in full effect.

What bothered me most about Gilda is that she violently elbowed Spike out of the way. Dude, he's a kid.

I don't think I hate any character, myself. I do dislike some, but they were usually meant to be disliked/portrayed negatively anyway. I used to dislike Octavia, but this wasn't due to any traits she had (she didn't even speak!) as much as it was the fandom latching onto her and that stupid "she's Pinkie's sister" theory that has fortunately (mostly) passed by now.

I guess it's just the fact that, because this show is so awesomely written, optimistic, and relies on such masterful characterization, I just ASSUME there's deeper levels to EVERY character (good or bad) even if it isn't spelled out for us

I find it more interesting that way

@ Freeman, not really, there's no character on the show I really hate or dislike, only thing I really just did not like at all was Twists voice (again the whole voice not just the lisp) but I don't dislike Twist as a character. Every pony is best pony.

[up] Agreed.

I keep wondering what happened to her after "Call of the Cutie". She did show up in "The Show Stoppers" briefly, but wasn't the focus of the scene and didn't even speak.

[up][up][up] And that's what I love about the fandom. Every little thing has its own backstory that could fill novels. It's like Lord of the Rings with fluffy bunnies.

@CDRW: I fully agree with #1. That's why I dislike most puns. #2...I'm actually the opposite way. I think it makes it funnier when the person knows they're about to drop a bomb and just makes it worse by emphasizing it.

I don't really dislike any character, although there are some that I get a bit sick of seeing all the time.

Seriously, I'm tempted to do a writeup analyzing what I think is the most hilarious pun I've ever heard, but that might be too dorky, even for me.

As to puns, I don't care one way of the other about them as a whole, I just look at each one on it's own.

And THAT'S the reason I love Trixie and Gilda. There's potential for some AWESOME characters here.

Twist was also in the background at the beginning of Return of Harmony. She was staring longingly at the Cutie Mark Crusaders, wondering how she could fit herself into the group, hating the day she earned that cutie mark. Now she has to spend her time with Snails. Ugh.

My main issue with Gilda is that she seemed kinda like a one-note character. Yeah, there's a lot of potential for her (I wouldn't be averse to seeing her return if that gets explored), but I felt like she just sort was just a jerk and not much else. I think that there's probably more to her character (and there are a billion fanon interpretations), but we just didn't see much of it in that episode.

Gilda always struck me as more interesting than Trixie.

When I first watched "Boast Busters" I initially thought the characters getting upset with her boasting was stupid, because she (at least looked like she) was an entertainer.

I really like Trixie because of Fallout Equestria. Out of all the characters in it she's the one I identify with the most, which is actually kind of strange because my personality is almost completely opposite of hers.

I've gone on record saying that I think Gilda's the most human character in the entire show, but I think I'd prefer more Trixie as well. waii

The junior speedsters chant. That was the scene that made me develop affection for Gilda waii

I don't have any feelings about Trixie whatsoever, she almost slid right off me. I nwe'd to watch Boast Busters again, there's no way I can be so apathetic to someone like her...

I haven't even gotten to the part where she humiliates the mane cast and I already wanna slap her!
