@Freeman: Actually, when my blog was on the Vocational Death Cruise, I had basically that exact premise. And solution. There were zombies wandering around, so what does Dumbbell decide to do? Strap a shard of enchanted mirror to his hoof(Every party was given an enchanted item, and would need to swap them around for their specific challenges, but the guy who had the one we needed didn't want to trade...), and demonstrate that he hadn't lost his skill as a boxer.

And also show why pony boxers pull their punches.

That would be darkly hilarious. As one starts flying away and it looks like they escape, their rotting wings fall apart from the strain and go skidding to the ground.

There was some degree of planning, but really the problem was trying to make sure that everything properly meshed... which is hard to do when nobody is working together to maintain continuity.

Yeah, it wasn't completely made up - I won one of the events, so in addition to getting more responsibility(They asked me to do a sort of 'side story' thing that wound up being super big, about a hundred panels if I recall right) means I got to hear a little bit of the story in advance. But the story had to be adjusted and rebuilt every week due to things going differently than they expected, and as it's been said it was really hard to keep continuity. Not to mention in the final few weeks they required cooperation, which... I wound up dropping out because I couldn't get in touch with my team and neither of them wound up doing anything.
