If I understand correctly there are copyright-related complications getting in the way of a Jem reboot. Heck, it could be one of the reasons why we're getting a MLP doll line and not a Jem reboot.

...I may or may not want to see a spin-off staring the misadventures of Lyra, Vinyl, and Octavia now.
