@Sereg: Doing a call-back barely qualifies. What I mean is that in any case of romance it's either between minor characters (Cranky and Matilda almost never show up elsewhere), or it's over so quickly as to be irrelevant. Like in Rarity's case, I'd
barely consider that a romance. When it's introduced it's clearly just part of a pipe dream, and in episode 26 the idea is pretty much definitively shot down for good. I'd barely even consider it a followup. What I'm talking about is a romance being a recurring element of the show. Outside of Spike's crush on Rarity nothing like that qualifies that wasn't already in place, and in Spike's case, Rarity has never shown any reciprocation. She obviously has some affection for him, but there's no indication that it's romantic in nature.
TL;DR: The show has never even hinted at any serious romantic developments involving a major character who wasn't already in a relationship.
And I'm glad to see that I won't have to worry about it in S4.
@Princess: To this day I cannot understand why
Ren and Stimpy was popular. I know people complain about the EQG designs, but that show was just
grotesque.
