I'd object to a gun.
Not because it's off-message, but because I don't think it's the right tech level.
Also, how would any pony wield a gun? The ones we have are designed around human hands. A gun built by ponies would be so different in design that we probably wouldn't recognize it as a gun until it shot us.

Perhaps she has weapons useable with her mouth hanging from a necklace? Like stunning gasses and the like she could quickly grab and bite on. Not to mention bladed horseshoes that double as climbing gear and a nice way to kick an enemy in the face.

So, then the issue is how they would even be fired. As I said, everything about the grip and the trigger on our guns are built to be gripped by a human hand. Nothing about those would logically transfer to a gun built to be used by a pony. They just wouldn't be built like that in the first place; nobody in Equestria would conceive of that design. I'm having trouble thinking of one that would work for a pony. Can't have it trigger by stepping on the ground, and hooves are just one solid piece...

My idea for guns in my super-unofficial 'future Equestria' show concept has body-mounted guns that can move independently on hydraulic arms. They're controlled by brain wave sensors.

@374319: All of those things are why I cannot imagine ponies with small arms.
Mounted cannons, maybe, if you can get around the massive kick that a cannon generates. Or a portable turret that they wheel around.
