To outright break the fourth wall, Pinkie would have to turn to the camera and say "Incidentally, a happy Christmas to all of you at home!" or some such.

So they crack the Fourth Wall long enough to wink at the audience, but never actually break it.

Like narration, fourth wall breaking requires a lot of subtlety to be funny, otherwise it's just annoying.

Which is why I don't have a problem with the fandom cranking up Pinkie's few moments of awareness. But most fanworks overplay it way too much to the point that she's just irritating. Same with her general wackyness. Most fanfics make her too blatant and in your face.

In my experience it's extremely difficult to guess at how many chapter you'll wind up having. OF course, I write very much on the fly - I anticipated one story having five, maybe six chapters, and it ended with fifteen. My current story will have 7 or 8 chapters in the first half, and I can't even guess at the second, but it will probably be about the same.

The certainly got, ah, ample details spot on...

That looks surprisingly good, actually. I don't say that disparagingly, either, it's just that without a frame of reference I really didn't realize just how good you'd gotten. She's a tad... sharp, but aside from that almost spot on.

BTW I have a question. For my fic I want Diamond Tiara/Dust's characterization to be slightly Tragic but to get the point across that she cannot be saved. A sort of deconstruction of Hate Sink. Any ideas. also must include windigoes since that point she is their queen.

Fear? They realize they've gone to far but are worried if they stop, the mob will turn on them(I only know the bare minimum of your story, so I may have details wrong here)

well if it includes windigos, then it's easy... albeit it making me really wonder what the shit is going on here: The windigos need suffering and ill-intent to feed. Without the ire of the mob, they'd turn to the next closest source of ill-will... which she might fear, given everything, is her.
