I was thinking Star Trek since I saw it recently, but I don't think the Mane 6 map into those roles at all.

Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.

Twilight should be captain. In Picard style. RD or AJ for first or second officer. Or some of those could be tactical or security chef. Flutershy counselor or medical officer. Rarity fit comunication station. Twilight could also science officer. And RD as mane pilot of ship.

I was trying to decide if RD would be better as the pilot or the security officer, then I decided we could bring in Scootaloo to fly the ship. Now I just need somewhere for the other CMC.
