I'm trying to think of what ponies could fry.

I'm not sure that they would. It's typically a thing you do to meat.

I like to think Pinkie deep fat fries all of her food. Even the salads.

She didn't fry that veggie salad parade float. But then again she had no time.

What's good about leftover pizza is that you can fry/grill it to make a pretty deliciously crunchy meal.

I have a feeling Italian food would do fairly well in Equestria. A lot of dishes use a lot of cheeses and vegies for flavor and there's a good many meat substitutes.

For instance, stuffed Parmigiana which is a fried eggplant dish stuffed with various herbs, mint, garlic, basil, Ricotta and mozzarella cheeses, optional green peppers, a creamy pea and tomato sauce, and perhaps a little cream-of-mushroom as a gravy.

And that's usually just an appetizer.

Oh gawds, I looooooooooove pizza, but I doubt I'd be able to get any of my favored toppings in Equestria.

Fried tofu and eggplant are both things that are quite delicious.

Could ponies use tofu to make sausages?

I love saying that word.

Tofu does not taste like meat. Tofu tastes like whatever you mix it with. It's pretty bland on its own.

Actually upon further inspection veggie sausages are made of tofu, as well as other vegetables, nuts, wheat gluten and a few other things, often in combination.

Here's a close to your home example of one. . .though I doubt this is what you had in mind.
