You're reffering to Magister Magi or MASTER Mages, the "magic" part comes from the magi, not the magister.

Eeyep, conversations from this thread have made me change his original blue to a black and while scheme like a penguins. With a blonde, slick backed mane with black roots, like a rockhopper penguins little 'do'. Only thing is, the tail might seem odd (flipper shaped and all). And I can't decide if he should have swimming googles or a snorkel and googles combo.

Isn't it true that back in the day, it was thought that learning to swim and then serving on a ship was unlucky or drew unwanted attention from the sea?

Huh. I wonder if that superstition had anything to do with One Piece's devil fruis (which grant great powers, but forever make it impossible for you to swim).

On Water Wings. Hm... I'm not sure what it is, but I feel the color scheme could be improved somewhat. Not sure how though. Mabye if his face was white from the bottom of his nose down? I'm just throwing out ideas, not entirely sure if they'd look better than what he's got now.

I bet that's what inspired it. Also yeah, the colours don't seem to be sitting right.

Science Officers may specialize in non-machinery-related sciences like particle physics or chemistry, engineers are specialized in maintaining ship hardware. In some cases the Science Officer is the ship's biologist/backup doctor.

@Apple First ones were blue shirts and other ones yellow/red (depending on here. :D

And more serious answer - engineers are mechanics who are responisble for maintaining ship while science guys are responsible for duties from fields of science (like astronomy or geology) what ship needs (most SF ship are exploration vessels)
