I realized something. What if there's an In-Universe reason for the design shift? Twilight says there's not magic in the human world and she's chasing the element of Magic for the plot of the movie. What if the end of the movie she uses the Magic of Friendship to share magic with her human friends or give the world magic in general? That would explain the two artstyles to me.
