Pegasi developed the arts of BBQ and electrical flash-cooking with lightning, and Unicorns mastered the art of boiling and precision recipes.

So most unicorns would be minor practitioners, more powerful unicorns would be the mages, and Twilight would be the archmage?

Essentially, yeah.

Though, I want to clarify two things: Unicorns like Twilight and Trixie are more powerful, where it comes to being able to learn more kinds of magic. Unicorns like Rarity still have power, it's just that it naturally lends itself towards a specific end.

Twilight's on the level of an archmage, but mostly because of her extreme level of focused study. Potential is nothing if you don't work on it, after all.

I imagine that unicorns whose talent is for all magic still each hve very different cutie marks, because no one unicorn can study literally all magic. They still end up focusing on a specific field.

I'm up! Upon seeing the picture of someone cooking over lava, I had never felt more happy (except for maybe when I got introduced to the show the second time and with my affinity to Fluttershy and my revelation to Octavia, but I digress). I pray I didn't miss the hangout. (It's kinda looking unfortunate for a friend of mine that she'll not make it, given her sleep schedule.)

Just woke up myself, and for the artwork, I am rather pleased at the simplicity of it. (They say super-complex polygons are the way to go, but I say nay. Simplicity is where it is at.)

Everyone keeps talking about seeing Future Twilight, but is there any indication that we'll see any of the future? All we know is that she gets a message from herself, and it'll probably be vague so as to cause the most confusion.

Now that I'm thinking about how she gets the letter, what if she finds a way to send them back via Spike? So Spike burps up a letter she thinks is from the princess, but is actually from the future.

You know, thinking on the differing ways Unicorns can develop makes be think it's a really interesting how the main six is set up. For each race, there's one representative who is really good at what their race as a whole is known for, and one who shows how that's not all the race is. It's a cool composition, if intentional.
