So, I was thinking more on that fanfic idea about the evil wizard escaping to the discord plains. Wondering about how to start it. Maybe Celestia realizes something is off after hearing about Twilight and Fluttershy falling into the oubliette, which was empty save for a lizard or sonething, and asks then to investigate. Maybe it turns out that the lizard was the wizard.

I'm not so sure of that. Physically, most witches haven't really demonstrated the speed or strength common to ponies. And we know that alicorn amulet!Trixie can create village-sized barriers. Oktavia is also vulnerable to standard weaponry, so Trixie should be able to hurt her. That said, Trixie should be vulnerable to being witch-kissed. Very vulnerable, in fact. It comes down to whether or not Oktavia can convince Trixie to commit suicide before Trixie can destroy her. And ven if she does, Oktavia'd still leave a grief seed.

I dunno, the amulet's corruption might overridde the witch-kissing thing. Normal Trixie might be susceptible, but corrupted Trixie... I'm not so sure.

That's not what it "took". That's what they happened to use in the final timeline. In a previous timeline, homura used an ordinary, homemade bomb which didn't even destroy the whole room. Homura normally kills witches with ordinary bullets. Witches are tough, but they are still vulnerable to ordinary weapons.

EDIT: Charlotte on the other hoof would be a lot tougher and is more likely to beat Trixie in a battle of attrition.
