I'm fine with time travel. I want a Back to the Future reference. I wonder what adult Twi will look and be like.

I still expect a reference of some kind of time paradoxes, Great Scott!!, or something along those lines, maybe even a nod to Jules Verne's Time Machine.

I think the real problem that people have about the latest synopsis is that it sounds like Lesson Zero 2.0.

Everyone keeps talking about seeing Future Twilight, but is there any indication that we'll see any of the future? All we know is that she gets a message from herself, and it'll probably be vague so as to cause the most confusion.

Now that I'm thinking about how she gets the letter, what if she finds a way to send them back via Spike? So Spike burps up a letter she thinks is from the princess, but is actually from the future.

@Bad I'd still argue that he sent Twilight and himself back in time to rehear the riddle at the beginning of ROH Part 2 but NO ONE agrees with me on that.

Besides, why is ALTERING THE FABRIC OF REALITY ok when time travel isn't?

It makes more sense to me that he's just displaying a realistic illusion of the riddle.

Cause he's the god of chaos? Reality Warping goes under that.

Altering reality doesn't create paradoxes. But really, I think the real difference is that Discord was a one-time thing; when he left, so did the reality warping. This episode seems to imply that somepony figured out a way to bend spacetime on demand. Unless they find a way to explain why it only ever appears once, it has all sorts of further implications. I'm fine with Time Travel as a one time thing, but I don't want something like Twilight discovering a time travel spell; it would cause an enormous amount of Forgot I Could Fly in pretty much every episode if it's established that she can time travel, but never actually does.

Granted, I doubt the show will make it recurring, but still...

@Ginger: The thing is, even if that was time travel, it was functionally the same as a simple illusion. There was no effort to alter anything, or any of the typical time travel tropes, so whatever it was is easy to write off and move on. Besides, Discord is a super powerful villain, so altering reality is sort of expected. Twi casually doing the same for the sake of sending a letter to herself is a bit different.

NO ONE HERE WANTS ACTUAL TIME TRAVEL IN THE UPCOMING EPISODE. THIS IMPLIES THAT PEOPLE MUST HAVE SOME KIND OF PROBLEM WITH IT. WHY? WHY WOULD THEY BE OK WITH REALITY WARPING AND NOT TIME TRAVEL?

Oh no Ginger, I want Time Travel. A Time Travel episode has a lot of potential. I for one am just being cynical. The synopsis (as it is now) makes it sound like whatever the message is isn't actually from the future.

...Say, what is the message, anyways? Would would drive Twilight to worry so much?

I'm not saying that I don't want time travel to occur, just that I want it to occur in a way that doesn't create copious amounts of Fridge Logic for every other episode.

Probably some easily misinterpreted message that Twilight assumes is warning about the destruction of Ponyville or something.

Heya, everyone! I was pointed here after asking about that amazing Daring Do trope page. Someone told me that you guys were working on writing the various stories, and I must say that I'm very pleased to hear that. If it's true, and speaking as an EQD pre-reader and having read every Daring Do fic submitted so far, I have extremely high hopes for them. You guys have made an amazing 'canon' for this character, and right now, I want nothing more than to see the other 15 books realized in their entirety. If any of you need help in any way, contact me about it.

I don't actually know how this works, because I'm pretty new to posting things on TV Tropes.

I have a feeling the whole one-time nature of the Time Travel will have something to do with the Grandfather Paradox. Twilight somehow finds a way to send a message to herself through time, and if Twilight manages to avert whatever that is, she'll have no reason to later find a way to time travel.

I always thought he just recreated the scene from the beginning, and didn't actually travel back in time. Either works, though.

Welcome to this herd, Alex :)

I actually like time travel stories, the problem is that it can be tricky introducing it as a one off plot in an episode. If it seems too easy to pull off, it undermines a lot of later plotlines where you can't help but wonder why they don't just do that again. So I don't think it's so much that people are against time travel as it is they want the implementation to be right.

That's exactly what I'm saying. I'm fine with it, but if they do by having Twilight learn a time travel spell, it means literally every episode from then on is going get people complaining about why she didn't use time travel to fix it.

@Alex: Welcome. I'm not sure whether we're intending to write all the books in their entirety, but we definitely have some excerpts floating around someplace.

While we're on the subject, would anybody object to me tossing up that image of Herpy on the character page? We need a few more pictures on there.

I've only made one pony plushie so far and I already never want to work with a 6" pattern again.

At least a couple of the people who lost their bet were going to write a few. Plus a few others started jumping in on it after that. Did anyone happen to start a list of who's doing what?
