Yes we are talking about that.

Honestly, from what we heard, RD and Fluttershy's voices are probably my favorite. All the others are good, but just sound like their English counterparts. RD and Fluttershy are different, but still fitting to the characters.

would it be acceptable for Luna to use the Royal We but speak perfectly modern otherwise?

I imagine if she was trying to be extremely proper and all that. While I'm not expert, I think modern royalty might still use it, so...

Oh shoot, I thought I had posted that in the fanfiction thread! I've pulled a Story!

Well that's your fault for posting in threads other than this one.

[up][up][up][up]There are a number of archaic forms of Japanese they could draw upon if necessary. I think her speaking "Keigo" would actually make little sense.

@Mio: I don't think Blissey meant in the Japanese dub. You're right, though; keigo would be perfectly acceptable, if maybe a bit confusing for younger viewers (which the first episode, at least, seemed a little conscious of).
I'm 8ad, and that's good. I will never 8e good, and that's not 8ad. 8ecause there's no one I'd rather 8e... than me.

[up]Oh, I see. I was actually saying the opposite though. I don't think that "keigo" would really give her a sense of being form another time. . .unless kids in Japan just aren't being taught respectful language these days.

Hm... you're right, I guess. There are certain dialects that would work much better for a sense of archaism (see: old Kyoto-ben a la Spice and Wolf's Holo). It's not so much a question of 'not being taught keigo' as a question of portraying an ill-suited stiffness and distance, though.

Speaking of, it'll be interesting to see how Celestia and the ponies interact...

Hello again. First off, those notes you gave me last night keg are absolutely brilliant and really really helpful.

Second of all, I've been experimenting with Coconut again. Here's what I made. Anything? tongue

Last of all, I have an idea for a mythical species to feature in the comic that I think calls back to G1. Grease Monkeys!

Glad to know they helped, Apple!

As for the design experiment... it's interesting, but it doesn't really evoke Coconuts any more. I mean in and of itself it's good - it's vaguely reminiscent of foliage still, and he looks kind bushy specifically, but, you know... not Coconutty. Also might just be the small size, but he doesn't look overly strong(Not sure if you were still going for that).

So yeah, good design and I kinda like the colour scheme, but it makes me think you're taking a different approach - and if that's the case, well, more power too you.

@Apple: I'm basically going to second what Kegisak said. It's good on it's own, but it really doesn't resemble Coconut at all. Maybe it could be his little brother or something.

I'll third that. I liked the old look better.

I like coconut better with the brown coat color.

although, if that's a younger coconut, then you could say his coat started green but turned brown as he aged. Just like many plants!

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll keep trying.

Btw, I gave Ginger another shot. Going in a different route, but I am not happy with those colours. tongue

Is there a reason that Ginger's not shaded like the others?
