From what I've seen, the reactions basically boil down to this:

Canon names are fine
Fanon names are better, but it isn't a big deal/we can just keep using the nickname
Canon names suck and I will not rest until this gross injustice is rectified.

Fortunately, most of the responses seem to fit into 1 and 2.

Also, I think the deal with Lyra isn't that she thinks he's human, but she wants to be human. Thus her doing "human" things like sitting on a bench the same way a human would.

Jesus fuck, leave Lauren alone! She's barely even involved in the show anymore, and if she actually had any influence over the damn toys, do you seriously think Celestia would be so goddamn PINK?!

Is it any fucking wonder why Bronies have such a horrible reputation? I especially love how Ponibooru hates sonic related crossover art because Sonic fans are stupid, * and yet, they're an inverted version of everything wrong with Sonic fans.

Sonic fans hate everything new (DURR HURR GREEN EYES R STEWPID!!!1!!1), Bronies hate everything old. (While most of it isn't that spectacular compared to Fi M, you're a fool if you deny G1 had great villains and G2 at least made an effort to give character development.)
The younger sonic fans are infamous for making Mary Sue recolors, and Ponibooru can't except the fact that GOOD OCs DO FUCKING EXIST; especially when Nyx is involved.*

Sonic fans blindly worship IGN and every other blatantly biased gaming "journalist" who bashes the newer games to hell and back and repeatedly bullshitting to newbies into masturbating to their Sega Genesis consoles, while Bronies swarm over critics like a horde of Tyranids and shove an awesome show down people's throats until Hype Backlash or Hype Aversion flares up; creating a never-ending cycle of hatred on both sides.

There are no words that can describe how much I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

The way I see it, the My Little Ponies have always been at least a little anthropomorphic, so Heartstrings slouching is just another one of Friendship Is Magic's occasional cheats, like how the ponies are able to bend their forelegs in all the same directions as human arms.

Like sure, they hold pencils in their mouths to write now, but how bizarre is it for a pony to be able to see directly below her own face?

Heck, I remember more funny or heartwarming comments than I do rage inducing ones. I'm not sure if that's due to my choice in what images to look at or if I'm just less inclined to rage at things or what.

Ponibooru is still less annoying than Youtube and Dan/Gel boorus as far as comment silliness is concerned.

Brony-fandumb hasn't become an endless self-perpetuating mire of pain that the fandumb section of the Sonic fandom has degraded into (I'm still a Sonic fan, but I refuse to associate with the fandumb).

It's only a shame the Chaos Emeralds can't let me banish the Sonic Fandumb to the Void or something.

Comments sections are pretty much a terrible idea, PERIOD. If I had to base my view of a fandom on what people say in comments sections, then ALL of them would be composed entirely of horrible human beings.

People can surprise you though. There was a religion discussion in one of the nightly roundups on Equestria Daily that was civil and good natured.
