YES! i'm not the only one who confuses you two.

Seraphem, upon looking at the random thoughts, I'd like to wish everypony a good winter wrap-up. (Can't believe I nearly let that slip my mind! Thank you for reminding me via curiosity!)

winter wrap up and its supposed to snow tonight here.

I'm going to go see the Cherry blossoms in DC on April 6th... have always wanted to but have never made it while they were in peak.

I have a prediction that come 2014, I still will not have started this. That's how low my confidence is at the moment. That and soon I'll be back in full time employment all summer, plus friends will be back in July and so I'll be hanging out with them rather than working on it, limiting my free time...however...if the full sized season 4 doesn't begin until winter (thus running on until the summer after), and we might get more seasons afterwards...then I guess I have no rush.

I'll try to do something this weekend. A strip. A simple strip.

I've got some good faith in ya! Take your time on this mission. I kinda am taking my time on showing my artwork myself, though for different reasons. (Namely my mouse drawing capacity isn't the most reliable, and the fact I'm still getting used to the pony eyes.)

@Applelight: Like I said before, simplify your goal a bit. Just focus on doing some short, jokey strips to establish the characters. Stuff like that lip wobble comic you posted a while back.

Nobody here thinks you're a joke, Apple. You're an artist trying to get your idea off the ground. As hard as you can be on yourself, you've made amazing progress with your art. Now it's time to build ideas off of your art. All artists doubt themselves. Anyone who says otherwise is lying.

As others have said, just start out with simple one or two-day strips. Something like "Batty and Coconut go to the (fill in the blank.)"

Try making a basic script of your idea first. Show it to some friends you trust (not ones that will either make fun or just say how awesome it is regardless) and ask for their opinions. If it passes, get started, if they don't like it, ask for specific criticisms and improve accordingly. Preferably give to a range of people with differing preferences so as to get opinions from different view points.

I remember thinking the same when I first thought of making a fan comic, I lingered over it for almost a year, I made a test page, and now I've pretty much taken up all my spare time working on finishing the project. I'd only not advise it on the grounds it may similarly overwelm your entire life.

And that silly one with the 'permission for lip to wobble' bit (Blackadder reference). How was that, shoddy art aside?

I just write it like a normal script akin to the quotes on this site. I don't know if that's the most efficient or professional way however.

Same really, though I could really be using all that time to make a portfolio of proper art.

Whew. That's a commute. How are things in the 'OMG why isn't it season 4 yet' thread?

Like the rest siad, start small, just do a few one off, joke panels, keep it simple, small, don't worry about arcs or story so much. Just work on geting the characters developed and known.

Surprisingly well actually, though I've gushed quite a bit from all the images I've seen, and to help Applelight, perhaps divide the script into some sort of "Sub-scripts" for the panels? Perhaps that'll give you a rough idea? (The patience is basically in my blood. I've a very deep well of patience.)

Better yet, do a small scene of your comic, something that works as a single piece and has lots of good gags and characterization. That way if you like the end result you can use it for the final project.

Most comic strips have some similar formats; and a lot of them rely on the second-to-last panel being the "beat" panel; or the last panel revealing something different than expected

Example Comic:

First Panel:

• Boy: Oh, I missed you so much, my darling

Second Panel:

• Girl: I'm sorry I was away for so long

Third panel:

• Boy: I hope I never have to spend so much time without you ever again. I love you! You bring so much joy into my life.

Fourth Panel:

• Girl: I can't wait to hug you and squeeze you and snuggle with you

Fifth panel: -zoom out, revealing that the boy is talking to his laptop; and the girl is talking to her teddy bear-

Most of the strip is setup for the final revelation.

When Apple is angsting about season 4, it pulls double duty.

So Meghan confirmed Sunset Shimmer isn't in S4, huh. Maybe she'll be in S5. The legend of Princess Celestia's other apprentice/student being a luchadore wrestler is too good to pass up :V

Thanks guys. You're stars for tolerating this. I'm like this a lot btw in real life...40k armies, outfits, rpg characters...anything creative, I get scared. It takes a good boot up the arse to snap me out of it.

Makes 3 of us. Thing is, I humbly don't think anyone would disagree with my mousework being kinda bad, but I digress.
