@Meta: They still might have ascended, just in the same way.

Also, my headcanon is that there are two "royal" lines. There's the actual leadership, consisting of the alicorns. Then there are the descendants of the royal unicorn line, who are "royalty", but don't have any real political power. Blueblood is a member of that line.

Not being Twilight's replacement does not preclude being a new, important character. That said, it really doesn't mean much. Just look at all of the characters that got Royal Wedding singles.

My headcanon is that Blueblood's one of the top five nobles (not counting Celestia and Luna) in Equestria, with his role having to oversee central Equestria.

Emerald Ray was a male pony that figured prominently in the Crystal Empire set. So back before season 3, people were speculating about whether he'd become a new main character.

@Story: The Boy Pony! from between season 1 and 2? OR amid season 2? I remember him.

My fanon on Bluesblood's family (The Star Family, descendant of Princess Platinum - yes, that's right, Platinum Star) is that they basically serve as ancestral advisors of the princessess, as well as diplomats and have high authority over the palace staff, but no real governmental authority

To be fair, Emerald Ray only had a blind bag-sized Big Macintosh mold toy included in a set with the Mane Six. Here we have a toy on her own in the main line, was at the toy fair, and even her own vector. Granted, that hasn't meant previous toy ponies with their own vectors got in (Did Blossomforth have her own vector? I forget). Sunset just seems like she may actually appear in the show rather than just another toy pony.

His wings look really cool in that picture, and the shape of his face is better (not as elongated.) I much prefer his old coloring and mane style, though. This mane is kind of generic-looking.
