@Steve I have no problem with the setting of the fic. It's the fact that there is no reason to have all the canon characters explicitly suffer such horrible fates when it happened so far in the past as to rarely have any effect on the present.

...That said I don't think using a very standard fantasy trope that the show happened to use counts as 'predicting' it. It's sort of like predicting that a lance would show up.
