@Perpetual I read your thing about the whole "spark" thingy...when I read that, I sort of thought of that merch-pony Princess Skyla, and how if the whole needs a spark to awaken, then maybe Skyla or some other Suspiciously Similar Substitue could go there. But idk if Skyla will ever appear in show or not, since the only evidence I've ever seen of her is a pic of a so-soft newborn.

and for those that might still be scared or worried

She's been working hard on her magical studies and is now sharing that element with her friends. A lot of the fans were worried she is going to leave, but she's going to stay in Ponyville and have adventures with them.

From an interview with Tara released today

If she left her friends behind in Ponyville, wouldn't that just nullify the whole friendship thing anyway? Even if she were sending letters to her(or them sending letters to her)?

an even better answer

Strong: Well the good news is, Twilight is going to stay Twilight. She is overwhelmed and surprised and grateful for this new phase in her life but it’s not going to change how she is or how she interacts with her friends, she’s staying in Ponyville. I’m certainly not changing any of my performance and it’s really the same Twilight except she can do more stuff now. She can fly…it’s not going to change the overall feel of the show, she’s going to be with the Mane 6. It’s just Twilight but a little bit better, she can do more stuff! But overall, it’s not really going to change that much. I think that’s what everybody’s afraid of, that it’s going to change sort of that core element that everyone fell in love with these six characters and that’s not going to change at all. I’m not changing a thing about my performance.

Wait a second. A divine spark?

Ahem.

Demigod

Your flesh becomes more than mortal and partakes of the divine vigor enjoyed by the gods themselves. Your epic-level companions are fast, strong, and smart, but you have the spark of godhood that sets you ever so slightly above all mortals.

[...]

Route to Immortality:

Divine Ascension:
When you complete your final quest, your divine nature yearns to complete your apotheosis. Upon ordering your mortal affairs, the astral flame smouldering within you detonates, consuming all that remains of your mortal flesh.
The astral flame leaves behind a fledgeling god, flush with the power only the truly divine can comprehend and wield. You ascend, blazing like the sunrise. Streaking into the Astral Sea, you are taken up into the realm of an established god who welcomes your strength.

It didn't altogether feel like a big promotion for a new toy, even though it ostensibly was one.

Speaking of toys, I thought it was interesting that they confirmed the balloon isn't Twilight's anymore. In fact, they have to pay Ms Cherry Aviatory Pony to use it.

I'm amused how Strong struggled for more abilities. "She can fly....anywho..."

It's not the same Crown. Well, the star is, but the rest isn't.

And Tara comes through once again.

Can I just add I'm glad they made sure to give Shining Armor a few lines? He could have just made a silent cameo, but its a nice touch he spoke.

In fact, he got one of the most memorable lines in the episode.

Improbable, since there wasn't any Gender Flip involved this time.

Funnily enough, the group I was with showed that Adventure Time episode right after the MLP episode.

Yeah, when you think about it, that seems like the only new thing Twilight can do is fly, since she already has the magic thing down, and I don't know about earth pony stuff.[lol]
Insert something witty that makes me better than all of you, here.

Twilight moves from Grad Student to Scholar. Instead of merely researching magic, it will become her job and hobby to make new magic.

Twilight's Swift Comprehension
Twilight's Expanded Library (employing the principle of L-Space)
Twilight's Essence Alignment

She has now earned a Doctorate in magic...time to further the research!

Granted this episode has no real antagonist, but there's no real sense of panic or danger when Twilight realizes she can't reverse it. Throw in a third act which really seems disconnected from the tone of the first two, and everything feels really disjointed.

It felt like the first half of the episode is the plot of the entire normal episode or two by itself.

What was stupid about the plot? Everything made sense as far as I could tell.

Well she could have just kept casting the spell until everypony was back to normal by chance.

I dunno, that would strike me as unnecessarily sadistic and out-of-character for Twilight, subjecting her friends to additional physical and emotional stress while hoping for a lucky "roll of the dice", as it were.

Ugh, all I can say is leave it to the writers to give us a partial answer and raise more questions then wen we started.

"Lost" did this for six seasons. Toward the end, the two bozos in charge had the arrogance to compare their viewers and their questions to annoying children. I still want those six years back. just bugs me

I believe FIM will actually give us the answers.

So, what was everyone's favorite song of the episode?

There were too many, so I don't even remember them.

That's like trying to brute-force a six digit pin number.

Not really. It would take on average 120 tries. So it's more like trying to brute force a two digit pin number.

Twilight moves from Grad Student to Scholar. Instead of merely researching magic, it will become her job and hobby to make new magic.

Hopefully She'll learn Scholar's Touch so the Spike At Your Service issue doesn't happen again.

Bah, that's what I thought about Evangelion, the X Files, and Cowboy Bebop. Then again, leaving mystery can be a good thing if done sparingly.

Only Twilight Sparkle could make the studying of friendship a real science.

Her new tiara could have the Element of Magic gem re-fitted for a more comfortable tiara, the old one always seemed kinda big for her personally.
