@Poke; We don't know, we're just saying that most likely yes since it'll still be My Little Pony and its being made to compete with Mattel's Monster High (have a sample).

Its highly unlikely it'll involve ponies killing mooks. GI Joe had precedence to having a Darker and Edgier adaptation due to being about soldiers in the first place.

@Apple, Lauren's busy with Wander Over Yonder, so Galaxy Girls is probably in the same place as before. Little indie toyline to the side.

@darkabomination: Well, of course. It's got "magic" right there in the title, and all good Christians know that magic can only come from the devil.

To be less tongue-in-cheek, I've known some otherwise-reasonable Christians who lacked Willing Suspension of Disbelief when it came to fantasy stories, and thus imposed the Biblical depiction of magic (where any supernatural powers can only be explicitly for God, or explicitly against God) onto their interpretation of stories that functioned on a completely different cosmology. Resulting in parents concerned about exposing their kids to Disney's Aladdin movie or The Lord of the Rings.

It's irritating, but at the same time I'm not comfortable pointing and laughing at them, because there but for the grace of God go I.

@ Poke, no no actaul details have been released, the ONLY thing we know for even close to certain, is it will be a spinoff, featuring the Mane 6 as humans, and be aimed at teenage girls.

That's it. Everything else is speculation at this point.

Bascally what JT said. They ignore the cosmological differences between fictional settings and Real Life. As such, pretty muchany fantasy gets condemed by certain Christian fundamentalists.

@Meta: Pretty much. It's the same way with fundamentalists who think Pokemon is evil because it includes evolution. Thank goodness my parents weren't those types.

And yeah, an American made Magical Girl show could actually be pretty cool. Kinda like the Powerpuff Girls only a bit more animesque.

I've heard some rather weird If Jesus Then Aliens arguments. For instance, one claim went if Dungeons and Dragons incorporates magic, then it must be Pagan-influenced. And if it's Pagan-influenced then clearly the Devil had something to do with it so don't let your kids buy it because it's evil.

you know, I was just thinking, with this whole human ponies in highschool thing, what are the odds of getting a Very Special Episode or two? what kind of subjects might they tackle?

Well, they already tackled bullying in the main show, which I would think would be the most relevant issue you can make a Very Special Episode about for high- and middle-schoolers, so I don't know. They're certainly not going to do the Drugs Are Bad episode.

Well, when I was a child, the cartoons I watched that involved high school usually involved superheroes like Static Shock and Batman Beyond.

That's made me wonder, and I'd never thought I'd ever say this, but what would the show be like without all the aesops? It's a core concept of the show and you can make a good argument that every episode is a Very Special Episode just handled much, much better than most. So wouldn't it feel rather strange if they started doing some on the spinoff? Just occurred to me is all.

@Pokemon: 2 things:

1. We've repeatedly said we don't know. There hasn't been enough information about the show released for us to say for sure. However, it's most likely that, yes, it'll be child friendly.

2. Rather than using a bazillion arrows, just put the name of the person you're addressing at the top of the post. When you get to more than three or four, nobody's going to take the time to count them all.

Well, the thing that marks a Very Special Episode is that its subject matter and general atmosphere is fairly different from a typical episode.

So when every episode's a Special Episode, none of them will be.

Humanized versions of non-human cartoon characters in fan art well predate FIM. With FIM, I think it's more noticeable because of non-fursuit cosplayers at conventions.

She looks like a teacher. Music teacher, maybe?

I've always wondered about that by the way. How would you cosplay as a pony?
