I'm under the assumption of it being a full on Alternate Universe - they've been pastel-colored humans the whole time and there are pastel-colored human counterparts of all our favorite ponies. The whole "ponies fall through a portal" thing is kinda silly and would be retcon'd anyway by Season 4, so why bother?

It's just like...this show took off because they avoided vapid cliches like that. Now we're apparently jumping headlong into them because Hasbro wants to be Disney but hasn't figured out that they're doing amazingly well specifically because they're not being Disney.

Okay first off all that's known is that the Mane 6 are going to the human world - That hallway pic is likely but not confirmed. Don't jump to conclusion so soon.
Secondly, this is a spinoff that shouldn't have any effect on Friendship Is Magic.
Thirdly does anyone know Lauren Faust's reaction to this "human world" Thing?

I'd suggest keeping calm. There's a chance for this to subvert people's expectations, ya know kinda like a certain little girls' show did.
Also, I'd recommend not telling Lauren Faust. She most likely doesn't know (she's not involved with Hasbro, remember?). Sometime tells me she'd roll her eyes at this :P

Yes Death that show is still on for at least another season.
Actually she was to some extent, we wouldn't have this show otherwise, and she did leave the show after season 2 ended for some reason.

Honestly I enjoy this show because its set in another world and has a capacity for fantasy. I love unicorns and gryphons and dragons, and cerberus and .... the list goes on and on.
You drop it in the real world and its not going to be as interesting. I watch cartoons to get AWAY from the real world... I want to see something different!
Plus you put certain characters in the real world and they could become a racist stereotype (Zecora... )

Why do people keep thinking that this ends the main series? They're doing this to expand their demographics. Shutting down their original demographics is counterproductive.

Something else of note is that the scan in question is either falsified or has an error. Having the new series start this spring is impossible, considering that the new IP isn't even going to be announced until SDCC this summer.

If they did do urban fantasy.... I would probably watch it if done as well as the regular show.
Thinking about it.... they might just do that... whats more popular now than teen urban fantasy/romance books? That's a really good point on the Urban fantasy thing there... I didn't even think about that angle!
I have a feeling 4th season is going to be our last... Hasbro is going to go full bore on this new thing after its over.

@Turtle Again, if their purpose is to expand to new demographics, then they can't shut down the current show just yet. Especially when it alone is making them so much money and this new IP is completely untested.
