So we're still trying to determine the veracity of the Highschool AU rumors I see. I may give it a look out of curiosity if it proves to be legitimate.

On the one hand, they've pulled off good things before, but on the other, taking the pony out of My Little Pony is rather extreme. My guess is that the movie will mostly get ignored. hopefully the main show will be unaffected.

Well If the rumor's true then i have to say that it way take place far into the the future as to not mess up continuity with the comics or S4, also the CMC(including Babs) will ether follow the Mane cast or get their own spin-off.

@Morning: All the rumors so far say it's not part of FIM's canon.

It can't be part of the continutiy unless it gets all just a dreamed or something. The characters are too mature already.

Honestly it simply can't be in continuity with Friendship is Magic if its honestly going to be a humans High School AU. We're getting Season 4 of ponies. The TV Movie is meant to launch a new sub franchise so whatever it is, there'll be more of it. They're not going through all this trouble to make you know who into a you know what, just to suddenly become human teenagers in high school.

Oh and Death, there was an episode of G1 Transformers where the Autobots got turned into humans, guest starring old man Cobra Commander! They...didn't attend high school... but there have been "Transformers as humans" before. But that was just one episode (I hear Transformers Animated also did that once, never saw it) and there wasn't an intention to sell toys of that.

Really there's not much to talk about. Its still a rumor, people are claiming "I know a guy", and there's the trademark and the announcement.

So suppose its true, it'll be competing with Mattel's Monster High (among other dolls). I got curious and dug up some samples.

Gotta say, Zombie girl is kinda Adorkable... but yeah, that's apparently the market Hasbro wants to enter.

Technically, the movie could involve the ponies falling through a portal and receiving the assistance of their alternate universe selves to get back. Then Season 4 happens. In any case, it probably won't weigh heavily on the continuity of the show regardless, so people are still free to ignore it.

Alright then. So far this is an interesting premise. And it allows for the rehashing of Aesops already done in the show. (Unfortunately it also allows for Romantic Plot Tumors given the setting). Hasbro will make FIM a franchise and use Univeral Adaptor Cast

Wait they made that plot more than once in Transformers (and I believed that only TFA was that silly, heh 80s).

I would forgive Hasbro doing this if they made their other franchise into Ponies (at least once). Or Transformers.

If the personalities remain unchanged, we might see how the girls react to romantic situations, which is useful I guess.

I personally identify more with anthropomorphic characters more than human ones.

As I said before, being ponies isn't why I love the cast.

Honestly, if they pull it off well, I'd be all over the show. It'd be cool seeing the girls in a completely new environment.

EDIT: And that list of "rumours" that was on derpibooru that was almost definately trolling ... I would be fine with most of it, all of it if pulled off well and even actively like most of it.

I'm not sure if this has been posted yet but there's a Doctor Whooves figure coming out.

Eye of the Hurricane has Iron Will in it. And it's Raindrops centric. Tentatively my favourite Lunaverse story. Getting close to being caught up, but now I must sleep.

But they won't be the same. You can't have highschool drama the way they are now.

That Dr. Whooves figure has been announced for a while. I pre-ordered one last month.

You would be taking what are essentially adults and dumping them into teenager bodies. Id think it'd be confusing and frustrating for them.

I know for one thing I wouldn't want to go back to being a teen.

Here's some discussion food; Hasbro only announced a TV Movie and said nothing about it being the pilot for a series. What would the plot of a 66-minute humans High School AU TV Movie be?

Some typical high school plot like getting ready for the big prom while lampshading the tropes involved? Remake Friendship's pilot episode as an epic Magical Girl adventure, with pastel-colored teenagers? 66 minutes of Slice of Life?

I'd think a good bit of the movie would be about adjusting to being human... making a lot of mistakes because they are not used to customs and form.

The unicorns and pegasi might be in for a shock as they find themselves missing their special abilities...

They would have to find someone to "adopt" them ... because 6 teen girls without parents would raise some suspicion. They are used to living on their own in their world but they'd need to find someone to shelter with in ours.

I'd expect a large focus on dat to day slice of life sort of stuff. Of course on one end of the spectrum we might be stuck with a random events plot.
