I still think that all the evidence in the show points to Magic Kindergarden being imaginary. It's possible that it actually is real, but it's not likely.

@Syd: Whoever pitched it didn't make as cohesive a design vision as Lauren had :V

I could see the crew tried to make the show better than average, but it can't match up to what Lauren put together with her Pony Bible.

Say, are most Shonen leads goofy, happy go lucky and a bit stupid?

Could I subvert this expectation by making my lead serious, composed and intelligent, but with a sort of snarky wit in their sense of humour?

Go for it. After that time when shows expected us to get a laugh solely out of the lead's stupidity, I'd welcome some intelligence in the protagonist.

One of my favourite character types is the highly intelligent brains of the operation surrounded by their idiot friends. This is what I'm going to do. It's an almost complete reversal of the standard Shonen setup.

Well, when I say idiots...I mean that they have severe quirks. One of them is a super doctor after all. But the lead will make up for his lack of severe quirks by being hilariously snarky and contemptuous of social norms and customs. Which I guess is a sort of quirk.

I tend to love intelligent but quirky characters with less than perfect mental stability the most.

Also, a debate has broken out in the spoiler thread. Well... actually a couple of debates. Shouldwe move them here?

The one is on the merits of the various writers and the other is on the end of Too Many Pinkie Pies.

I guess a quirk he could have is a sort of lack of fear. That scary monster that's got your crew cowering? He mouths off at it. And this is not a good thing...and his crew do not apriecate it.

That's how you avoid Mary Sueism right? Giving them flaws that others call them out on?
