Since the vast majority of mares share the same body type, the correct answer is that Equestrian standards of beauty are tied to personality and mannerisms. Clothing and mane styles are then designed to enhance and compliment those. It's why Fluttershy was able to be a model, despite not looking all that different than the average mare. The Moe was too strong.

...you know? I originally wrote that with the intention of being silly and sarcastic. It makes way too much sense now that I've typed it out, though. Headcanon'd.
