So Lyra just learned Elegy 9/10 in Background Pony. Vinyl is...completely out of her fucking gourd in an absolutely glorious way.

Background Pony's depiction of Vinyl Scratch is my favorite from any fan work I've ever seen.

I just love how the other three musicians' stories about the Curse of the Ninth are these ridiculously dramatic productions with profound statements about tragedy, fear, and mortality.

And then it gets to Vinyl and she just starts belligerently ranting about the time she showed up at a gig high as a kite, and then went on an acid trip from accidentally shoving a broken magic gem up her nose.

What follows is an oddly optimistic philosophical journey while she starts unraveling the nature of the curse and gets wrapped up in a cosmic horror story about the music that birthed creation.

Shortskirtandexplosions is a madman who writes like most people breathe.

The really crazy bit? Imploding Colon, the author of Austraeoh (every bit as long as Background Pony, just divided into shorter chapters) and Eljunbyro, is almost certainly SS&E's sockpuppet.

Concerning the CMC, I agree there are slight hints to Divergent Character Evolution, it's just that they don't really evolve much past very subtle gags and hints. They've yet to get a developed conflict or problem concerning one of their unique flaws, and each time one of them gets the spotlight it always feels more like the same character but in a different situation (that same character is at least likeable one but still).

The sad thing is I can kind of make out unique personalities for each of them out of their rare moments of character, Applebloom seems like the more matured but overexcitable leader, Sweetie Belle is a ditzy doormat, while Scootaloo is the tempermental tomboy.

Of the CMC, Scoots is the most uncertain about her femininity, Applebloom doesn't care yet, and Sweetie seems to be starting to get a handle on it.

I suspect Sweetie's being influenced by her sister :V AB seems to be the most keen on getting her cutie mark, and Scoots is taking the Dashie path.

Sweetie has higher WIS but lower INT than Applebloom or Scoots. She may or may not have higher CHA.

In season 1, Sweetie was more ditzy, now she's just as responsible for scheming as Apple Bloom is.

Scoots and AB have more technical knowhow than Sweetie.

I admit a problem with Sweetie is that even with what little presentation of character they have, they're kinda inconsistent with her. She seems sort of like a Genius Ditz all in all however, one that may actually have the right answer and more logic than the others, but is too recessive and air headed to really figure out she might know better.

Sort of a Composite Character of Pinkie and Fluttershy I guess.

Teenaged Sweetie Belle will be voiced in season 7 by Andrea Libman.

Now now kids, there's more than enough Luna for the both of you to hug :3

Random thought. I wonder if yon ponies of old really did shun the night the way it was described in the legend, or if that was just Luna's insecurity (and history's reinterpretation of the original incident).

Perhaps there were more wild Monsters about the land, and Luna guarded the ponies against the threats of the night. Many of these monsters might have been sealed away as constellations.

Only she got too fierce and zealous and scared everypony with her battle-lust.
