@JT: I felt nearly the same as you when I first watched the episode. Sweetie Belle is my favorite CMC (mostly, I admit, because she is so adorable).

Rarity? Really? So she suckered you into joining in, stop abusing her like this! But on a second viewing, she does dote on Sweetie Belle and ease into the trip. It doesn't make everything better but hey, it's something. She did go and slept outside. No bathroom and no showers (though, who knows, that damned tent...)

Change is hard.

The pacing...no, I really didn't have a problem with it. Though, now that you mentioned it, seeing more actual camping time might have been better or at least more variety in Rarity's part in the episode.

And Applebloom...

Luna...oh, Luna. I love how dramatic she still is.

Yeah, I complain a lot about pacing. If there's any issue that I think the show struggles with on a regular basis, I'd probably say that that's it. I'm sure there are those who would disagree, though.

Honestly speaking, I'm just ecstatic that Scootaloo finally got an episode, AND it didn't suck!

That's all I could ever ask for. But alas, greed overcomes me. While I may be content for the time being, I will only want more Scootaloo later on. -dramaticly said-

The variation I read was slightly nicer than that one though. She wore the ribbon throughout her life, and asked her husband to untie it when she was on her deathbed.

And then her head fell off. Yeah.

Looks like Rarity might be heading slightly towards the 'Jerkass pony' role RD had last season. Oh well, if we get a token 'nice Rarity' moment it will balance out.

Still no news whether her or Fluttershy are getting an episode this season though.

There is no "jerkass" role. Did people just ignore her interactions with Sweetie Belle outside of the wagon pulling? I feel like a broken record.

I wouldn't go as far saying either of them are jerkasses. Rarity was a bit uptight in this episode, but that was really about it.

We all know Rarity doesn't do manual labor. I have learned tov live with this fact, and have gotten over her behaviour during the episode.

I may be biased though, as I was mostly focusing on Scootaloo.

What I mean is both of them are gaining recurring critism by fans for their more abrasive acts in their respective seasons.
