I bought this from the Helsinki Brony Meetup last weekend.

I shoulda put something in the picture for size comparison. It's about as tall as those DVD cases in the background.

I got it for dirt cheap, considering the price range of that auction. If I get regrets, I can very likely sell it for profits on eBay.

Internet polls are always suspect anyway.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.

Internet polls are still entertaining, though.

Plus, that Chrysalis statue is really neat.

@Lurker: Really? Huh. Well, I still find it hilarious that popular trash like Family Guy {Later seasons are trash, I mean. I loved the older stuff} is at the very bottom and that Mlp Fim is at least high above it.tongue

@Story: In terms of writing, or making the damned things in general?

I'll admit, I wouldn't really weep to see the Spunkgargleweewee genre go the way of point-and-click adventures. It's well about time for a new genre to sit atop the pile, I think. Action/hack-n-slash are PROBABLY the next to come up, though I hold out a small amount of hope for RP Gs. The industry is leaning towards big visuals and story, after all, we just need to find ways to make them a little bit more engaging in the gameplay side of things.

Well, the "popular trash" simply isn't popular on the internet, so of course no one's going to cheat to "support" it.

Family Guy has entered that demographic that is both invisible to the internet and apparently huge, from the looks of it.

Must be the international broadcasts. Part of the hate for it is the offensiveness, and at least from what I've seen, people down here are insanely hard to offend through shows.
Oh, the thread? Don't worry, it's just dead.

I don't mind if it's offensive.

It just ought to at least be funny.

That Chrysalis figure is cool but her teeth look a little.....large.

@Lopiny: It's less that it's offensive and more that it's offensive in lieu of actually being entertaining.

@Kerrah: That's pretty awesome.

I'll watch Family Guy if I've got nothing else going on. It's that type of show that's good for a bit of background noise.

Not sure if I'm making sense here.

@Condo and JT: This. Seriously, I can take offensive humor if it's, you know, actually funny. But Family Guy nowadays just goes with the "Crude for the sake of being crude" type of jokes with NO effort put into them at all. In fact, Speaking as someone who's seen ALOT of FG episodes, there have been only two times where FG actually did offend me. All the other times it's just stupid, repeative jokes with crudeness thrown in.

Also, I miss when Stewie Griffon use to be an Evil Genious who wanted to kill his mother, and not a annoying gay sterotype like he is now.tongue

[up][up] Nah, I understand. The kind of thing going on in the background while you chat with whoever you're having lunch with.

Also, the horribly offensive seasons apparently hadn't gotten here when I still watched it occasionally. That must be it, or otherwise I'd join in with the criticism.

@Purple: Yeah, I get that. Like if you did a breakdown of the stuff I watch, it wouldn't really match up with my tastes well because I tend to default to Chopped or Pawn Stars when there's nothing else on.

I've also heard complaints about how it eschews thep lot in favour of wacky jump gags, which from what I've seen is pretty reasonable. IF you parsed out all the cutaway jokes and just had the plot itself the episodes would be half as long, which means that the plots are often pretty trite and poorly handled. OR so I imagine; this is all largely hearsay as the nature of the show never hugely appealed to me. Too spiteful. Feels sort of like they're aiming for british everyone-is-an-asshole black comedy but not quite getting it. Like, Peter's a massive cunt but seems to be rewqarded for it, or at least get away with it, whereas Basil Fawltey always got punished in some way for his dickery - usually continually throughout the course of the episode.

Well, that and I haven't owned a television with a decent package in three years.

I'm not any kind of "activist." Personally, I don't think they actually accomplish much. It's people who do what they want despite societal stigmas that change the world a bit at a time.

Con, I could kiss you! I couldn't agree more. I have to deal with activists everyday at college. I make a habit of letting them see me bin their pamphlets.

so hey, in other news, what does everyone think of the new, redesigned Fim Fiction? They got some swank new banner images! Can't say I'm a fan of the new layout, though...

@Apple I have to deal with that, too. Although I feel kinda bad dumping their pamphlets in front of them, and simply use someone else as a sort of human shield so they're too busy handing it to him/her to hand another one to me. Still, every day has a new pamphlet with a new group with a new name, yet the same ineffectiveness.

It's just like dealing with homeless people.

Walk right by them like they're invisible and learn to live with the fact that you're a heartless bastard. :D

That's what I do.
