OK, yeah. That's pretty much perfect, I'd say. I very much like how they managed to avoid actually having Luna in any shots until the lines that made sense with her. There are a few things I would have done differently, but those would involve using clips from other episodes. This was pretty much perfect.

I almost wish there was a version of that one that used the other version of the song, so I could see which one fits better.

Hm... you know, I'm sort of surprised we haven't seen fanart of Starswirl the bearded yet - he sounds like a pretty sweet pony.

He kept a mouse as a pet, and taught it some magic, making it one of the first non-equines in history to learn unicorn-made magic.

There were... a few issues with that. Let's just say that Canterlot quickly worked out a building code for flooding.

Finally got around to drawing Rarity again.

On whether or not other ponies have died their fur. I believe that Carrot Top died her mane which is why it's green in Boast Busters, but Rarity convinced her to keep it orange.

Also, earlier you were discussing Pinkie. I didn't find her really annoying this episode, but in the early episodes I found her incredibly annoying. She's grown on me a lot, but she's still my least favourite of the Mane Six. Also, I can understand preffering to hang out with Blue Blood. Not because he's more likable (he isn't) but because he's easier to ignore.

So, I heard a theory that nicely explains to me why everypony was so frightened of Luna initially. Basically, the visual changes to her were not for viewer benefit only.

The last time anyone in Ponyville saw Luna, it was right after she'd been hit with the Elements. All of her corrupted/corruptive magic was gone, and her normal powers had yet to reassert themselves. As such, she was smaller than Celestia by a wide margin, and had solid, normal hair.

Now, by the time she comes back, she's had over a year to recover. In addition to a year of natural growth, I think that the return of her powers had a physical change as well, making her a bit bigger and making her mane into a starry one, to match Celestia's.

Now, the last thing Ponyville saw was that diminished Luna. So, when Luna returns over a year later, but taller, sporting the ethereal mane last seen on Nightmare Moon, and being pulled by an utterly demonic-looking chariot, I think they can be forgiven for their first thought being "Oh Crap. History's repeating itself, and she went evil again!"

Of course, her initial speech should have cleared it up, but she had to go all Traditional Royal Capslock Voice when delivering it.

Alrighty! Just caught up with all of season 2 so far!

Good stuff, but Twilight's expressions in "Lesson Zero" will stay with me for a good while.

Interesting observation about Ponychan after every new episode premiere.

I hate ponychan after new episodes. Full of spoilered texts and images. It's not fun to browse that board. I wait after 48 hours when everything back to normal and images will be not spoilered everywhere.

It works in a similar cycle around here as well. It always begins with everyone saying "BEST EPISODE EVER" then after a few hours we start properly critiqueing it, and then the people who disliked the episode entirely start to come out of the woodwork

I think it's because people who disliked the episode don't want to be the only ones criticizing it, so they wait until the initial new pony high has worn off and people have started pointing out the flaws. But the flaws are usually pretty minor, so you get the people jumping in about how you're crazy for not liking the episode.

Weirdly, I never seem to like an episode until I've seen it a second time.

Throughout the first viewing I'm too paranoid. I'm always thinking: "please don't be bad, please don't be bad"

x9 I think it may be rather worrying though that I've liked and identified with each of the ponies more after their breakdown episodes (with the opossible exception of Fluttershy who can do no wrong in my eyes even though I have a slight prefference for Twilight).
