Babs Seed was the mediocre one, and Trixie was the good but not exceptional one.

I'm just glad this didn't disappoint, I totally started to get the feeling this'd be a Merriwether Williams episode and she'd screw it all up, ...just like she did when she put the reins on the Spike episode or when it was her call to work with Rainbow Dash.

But instead we got a new talent on board, and lets just hope this is the start of something wonderful.

Rarity is just looking out for her younger sister's health. All those milkshakes were starting to go to her flank.

More revenge for guilt tripping her into going camping in the first place. Hoist By Their Own Petard indeed.

Williams episodes aren't that bad. I admit I didn't think MMDW was that good and her episodes do tend to have a slightly more sadistic tint to them humor wise, but they are usually at least entertaining, if not really amist my top faves.

I love all Williams episodes, especially Dragon Quest and Hearthwarming Eve. And I hope she is in s3. Just like Polsky who did great job with clones episode.

We're still left wondering what next week's episode will be though. No details whatsoever yet. Not even the name.

Heh, I really enjoy seeing peoples reactions to episodes. So far, this has been more or less entirely "I love it!" reactions from people, bar perhaps some upset over some OOC behaviour from Rarity.

Honestly, "I love it" reactions seem to be the trend so far for the whole season. Only Sombra and the outcome of the bullying episode seem to have any common disapproval to it, and to be fair, Sombra got alot of Fridge Brilliance which made a good number of people like him later, and the handling of a bully is always going to cause divides in opinion. If they keep this up, this could be the best season so far! Now, only if it was longer.

Wait, what episode is the Apple family reunion? I thought that was next.

re: Merriweather, yeah I really just, don't think she should be writing for this show. MMDW was the only episode almost everyone agrees was bad or at least the worst out of them all HWE was good but it was dealing with the past, new ponies, and a darker plot already. PYHD just wnet way way way WAY to overboard making the ponies jerks, and even in DQ jerks everwhere.

Not saying she is a bad writer, she not. But she herself admitted she likes putting a large deal of cynicism into her work to make it more 'realistic' and that just does NOT mesh with why people love FIM. And almost all her pervious work has been on negative-continuity, the joke comes before everything else, shows. Not rather continuity and charterization heavy shows

So she's a god writer, but her style is just totally unsuited for this show.

Rarity OOC? Well, maybe a little, with the the wagon pulling, but otherwise I don't see it.

Apple Family Reunion is the episode after Wonderbolt Academy.

Episode 9.

I'll admit my reaction to the first four episodes was kind of 'meh'. The Crystal Empire seemed like it had loads of good ideas, but didn't really use any of them to proper potential, while TMPP and BS were enjoyable but unexceptional (and a tad too corny). The last two however have sold me.

Seraphem: I admit that's something that bothers me about Williams' episodes. While most of the show is rather schadenfreude, it's mostly balanced and kept rather karmic or sympathable (eg. the characters usually bring it all on themselves or those that enflict it are remorseful afterwards). Williams' tend to involve slightly more sociopathic humor and the cast being more intentionally mean spirited to one another. I'm rather surprised people kicked up a fuss about Fluttershy threatening Twilight after she outright beat up Rainbow Dash just for rashionally arguing with her in Dragon Quest for example.

@ Cookoo well one of the arguments for a shorter season was it would allow them to concentrate and polish the episodes more to make the few we get as good as possible, and so far, it's seems to be the case.

And while we might have a longer wait between 3 and 4 we also have the comic and all the offical books coming out between to hold us over.

@Lopiny Well, that's just what Iv'e noticed others are saying. I guess its less OOC and more ignoring lessons from past episodes, IMO.

as to Rarity OOC, not really, the wagon pulling was alright, the only bit that really went to over the top was he having sweetie pul the wagon, WHILE pushing her on her couch, that was a bit much

I'm sure if Sweetie Belle had complained at all Rarity would have helped. I think Sweetie was just happy to have Rarity along and didn't care.

Sweetie Belle is a manipulative bitch.

@Psi 001: Zap2it says it's airing the 22nd which would put it after Wonderbolt Academy. Episode numbers are likely production order.

Also I like about half of Merriwhether's episodes, but I like them less then others that other writers have written.
