With regards to only Earth Ponies growing things, that can't possibly be the case. What do you do about non-Earth Ponies with plant related talents, like Blossomforth? What do species living outside of Equestria do for food? It just doesn't make sense.

How weather outside Equestria is regulated?

In my headcannon other races doing Pony tasks. Like Griffons or Zebras.

Derpy is the background is a fan favorite. But who are second and third place? I think/hope that it's Lyra and Bon Bon however it might also be Time Turner /Dr. Hooves. but then again it could be Octavia. *

Octavia doesn't really show up a lot, and neither does Vinyl, but their fanon is legendary.

There's aren't any ranks or anything like that, because it's all opinion. In terms of popularity, I guess you could use the population of their respective tags on derpibooru to gauge it.

@Seraph I was responding to Sereg's statement that most ponies can't grow things in Equestria period (missed the "in Equestria" stipulation, so one of my points is moot). It still doesn't make sense, considering that there are non-Earth Ponies with plant related talents, and I seriously doubt that there are ponies tending every single blade of grass.

I take it as the ponies are so used to always managing things that they find the idea of not managing things unnatural.

I've already said that this only applies within the Equestrian borders. As I said, Equestria is dead. It's only through pony magic that it functions at all.

That said, I beliee that other races from other regions have similar powers to the ponies and do some regulation of their own.

Evil Twilight invents a spell to summon an entire horde of parasprites, just to see if she can do it. Then she conveniently forgets to unsummon them, watches them eat every scrap of food in the span of five minutes, takes notes, then hums a merry tune and returns to her studies.

Personally, I'd just attribute Spike's statement to artistic license within the universe. The other thing is that the "Equestria is dead" thing is kinda irrelevant to that statement as the bulk of the play doesn't take place in Equestria anyway, and there are also other explanations for the statement. It never says that the E Ps could only grow food because they were earth ponies. Like I pointed out earlier, the unicorns live in mountains, and the pegasi live in clouds. They certainly can't grow food there, but we don't know whether it's because they aren't earth ponies or because you just can't grow food on the side of a mountain.

(though that appears to be a shortening of her earlier Pony Collection Set collector card◊ saying that she "knows how to make any garden grow! When I think about Babs Seed and how she's from Manehatten, I think about this little gem I came across on the Internet:

That question makes me want to snort with laughter. For starters, if Babs was really their daughter, then she and her sister should have appeared in Applejack's flashback in "Cutie Mark Chronicles". Also, I simply can't imagine Babs with her Bronx accent fitting in well with Upper Class Twits!

By the way, does Real Life Manhatten have Upper Class Twits? I'm not trying to be insulting. It's just I've never been to New York, and New York seems to be portrayed as a big city full of street thugs...in fiction anyway!

Dude, we wouldn't have seen Babs anyway because at the time, she would have been either a little baby or not even conceived yet.

But yeah, her accent suggests against the idea.
