I don't think their family ever has to worry about money again considering that SA now rules an empire.

Twi definitely has money, most of her own she spends on replacing books damaged by in-episode hijinks, new telescopes, and renewing her balloon pilot license. Also she probably knows AJ needs money so she insists on buying things at standard market price from her whenever possible.

That depends on how much Shiny gets paid from being Prince of the Crystal Kingdom. Theoratically depending on his Officer rank and appointments back in Canterlot his day job as Captain of the Canterlot Guard might pay more (unless Celestia reassigned him to be in charge of the Crystal Kingdom embassy so he can stay close to Cadance, or he was honorably discharged so as to let him assume his position as Prince).

@Ace Being a non-constitutional monarch kinda entitles you to access to the funds of the entire nation. Even if he didn't have all that much power, his position at least guarantees that his family will be taken care of.

Fun fact: Most of the r34 of Shiny and Cadance involves them with each other. Somehow it just feels a tad voyeuristic to know about it. Sheesh guys, they're married already, give them privacy :V

Yeah. Suddenly I'm reminded of Edgar in FFVI, where he has to insist the shopkeepers in his castle take the payments.

@Apple: She's an elevated noble, since her bro is now a Crown Prince by marriage. I doubt she'll really make use of the political power she has though. My fanon is that she was at least upper-middle-class back in Canterlot, since her parents were able to pull strings/papers to get her an entrance exam at Celestia's academy, and her home interior has a rich decor similar to Canterlot Castle itself. Also note her balloon (and pilot license), her massive personal book collection, and all her science kit and telescopes (Even with Unicorn crafting techniques, a complex telescope would still be expensive in Equestria because they don't have mass-production to reduce production costs on the parts while retaining precision machining).

There is only rank in Pony nobility: Princess and Prince. If you are not that, then you are not nobility.

There is also aristocracy :P

The fact of the matter is that Equestria is probably due for an Industrial Revolution that will most likely start in Manehatten, which is more urbanized and industrialized than even Canterlot.

I like to think that each city has a duke. The Duke Of Canterlot (Prince Blueblood), The Duke Of Manehatten...The Duke Of Cloudsdale. And so on.

I certainly wouldn't expect a cultural bastion like Canterlot to be urbanized or industrialized, Ace.

@Red: They probably have a lot of artisans and craftsponies in Canterlot, but the real production facilities are all at Manehatten. One day there might be outrage that suddenly all the money is rotating around Manehatten, where the Earth Pony CEO has more clout than any Unicorn noble from an ancient House that can trace its ancestry back to the aristocracy of Princess Platinum's time.

Canterlot's unique geography kinda makes it impossible to house much industry, considering that it lacks the real estate for suburbs to house a sufficient middle class workforce, much less factories or centers of production.

Canterlot IS a mountainside city. It's more suited as a center of the arts at this point.
