@Apple: By my (fanon) current count we have Celestia, Luna, Leo, Cadence, Tidus(Of the ocean), Rowan(Of Trees and Wood), Willow(Of fallen leaves), Asher(Of Roots), Petra(Of Soil), Ciel(Of the Sky), Mable(Of Precious Things), J'accuse(Of Justice), Amos(Of the desert) and the as-yet unnmaed gods of Stone, Steel, Storms, and Wind.

But from the sound of The Cosmic Council my best guess is one for each planet and moon. Depending on how you count dwarf planets this is somewhere i nthe range of... 189 council members. Fuck me sideways, that IS a veritable UN, isn't it?

Except given how important Celestia is to the ponies, hard to not believe they'd try and follow her. Not saying there isn't any drift, but it's minor, and mostly just responsible for regional dialects.

I dub Leo as the god of ocean life, so I'm going to say in the way that a god of air and a god of animals would interact. I imagine they're reasonably close, like brothers, but they have different realms and don't directly interact. OF course, Tidus is a merepony god as well, so it's possible they do spend time together, since Tidus spends most of his time away from his country.

Huh, well this is interesting. I'm not sure how canon I'd consider the EU stuff; the show definitely has priority, but I'm not sure how much weight I'd give the rest of it. Then again, most of it will probably never come up in the show itself anyway.

@Seraphem: Nearly all of the newer Celestia toys are white rather than pink, and even the pink ones used white artwork rather than pink artwork. The motor vehicles, on the other hand, probably are the biggest difference between toy-canon and show-canon.

Really, there's more than just levels of canon, there's also the point of view—whichever level(s) a person looks at the other levels from take(s) priority over all other levels—it's just that the huge fandom of the show, due to being fans of the show, usually takes show-canon POV. For example, this pony◊ is only once addressed as Daisy in an early episode of the show while the toyline names her Flower Wishes in multiple toy releases both new and old, but from the show-canon POV, Daisy takes priority over Flower Wishes. (It could just be something like one being her real name and one being a nickname, but no level's bothered to clarify )

@ What i know it's all dependent on each person POV, was just listing the generally agreed upon cannon order for the only other franchise with a massive and (at least theoretically) consistent EU I know of.

I hope those Seaponies are Hippocamp than those who were in first cartoon. Also that thing on book cover look like seahorse similar to real seahorses in same way MLP ponies are to real ponies or even more.

I like idea of Cosmic Consul (better if Bioware not make MLPFIM game if they include that consul), I hope other creature can be in it. That could work with my headcanon. Well in mine there is soemthing like this but more divided and plot of one of my planed fics was about trying to remake Aliance between those nations but soem of them would join bad guys. Like penguins who were ruled by Celestia Tier King/Emperor who went mad later overtrown and stripped from powers, and those who replaced him are far less powerful.

thinking the seaponies will be seas-horse based like the G1 ones, and the mer-mares will be hippocamps.

As far as fanon and the book, it josses my fanon that seaponies don't exist. Oh well, it's not a big deal.

The only part of the info we have that I'm going to ignore is the "cousin" bit. Having Celestia's cousin inexplicably be a sea pony makes no sense; there's never been any implication that they have any living relatives.

Celestia's distant ancestors were whales.

I think he's her "cousin" the same way Cadance is her "niece". The types of beings they are just tend to form a "family" over the centuries, because they outlast everyone else. Heck, I'm not even 100% sure that Celestia and Luna are blood sisters.

Yeah, I was just gonna suggest they were cousins in a more 'metaphorical' sense. Like, The Cosmic Council is basically a large 'family'.

Huh. That would certainly be an interesting twist.
