@Bluespade, Teeth and Lurker
...It's not what the episode was trying to say but what it ended up saying anyway. The use of a
Freudian Excuse was too heavily handled to be taken seriously, and the delivery of the message was such that it's actually insulting. I understand that it's just a kid's show, but for something like bullying the writing has to be absolutely spot-on to tackle the problem in a suitable way.
Her background, which is not an excuse, was portrayed as such in the show. When the
CM Cs find out she was bullied: "oh no, even though she's been a complete bitch to us, let's stop our revenge plan!" which on its own is fine, but it's the fact that they go out of their way to try and resolve the situation. If the
CM Cs had realised sooner that she was a victim of bullying and thus have disabled the booby traps before Babs went on board, would she have shown remorse? I doubt it.
I just think Babs was a complete
karma houdini.
I also know exactly what kind of background Babs was coming from, but again I cannot fathom the idea that somehow this means you'll use all the hate that has been directed at you to people who have never shown nothing but kindness to you. With no comeuppance. On a kid's show.
