Please. Fluttershy keeps animals. She'd know exactly what she's doing. And Big Mac "is very gentle".

That said, they do both have the shyness issue. I know that Fluttermac is one of the most popular pairings in the fandom, but I don't really do Theme Pairing much. I far prefer Twimac. It has actual evidence. Cheerimac is fine too.

I used to do Pinkiemac...but the show has knocked that idea out of me.

Yeah, I think Fluttershy and Big Mac have only ever been in the same room on screenonce, and never even interacted during that scene. Chemistry isn't something that you can assume. Heck, two shy people probably wouldn't even be able to interact with each other enough to bond in the first place, IMO.

The concept of Flutterinkie amuses me.

Hence...why Flutters future love will be a boisterous outdoorsy type who also loves animals. Probably.

I don't see Big Mac as shy. He just doesn't talk much. He could be a man around town if he wanted to, but he doesn't want to.

Becides, everyone knows the best ship is Flutterdash, anyway.

Kidding aside, I think that Fluttershy — if she were a real person — would have some growing up to do before being able to deal with a romantic relationship. I mean, being a bit shy is one thing, but being barely able to interact with other people is something quite different.

Admittedly, she did improve in the course of the series (especially if we consider the Iron Will episode); but still, it seems to me that she might not be able to manage something like that yet.

Ahem. But yes, I can speak as a fairly introverted person, who almost had a relationship with another shy person(note ALMOST, that's very important), it's VERY hard to make it work. There has to be one hell of an ice breaker, and considering 'Shy is often even shy around people she is comfortable with, that means it pretty much always has to be present. Their big probelm is that neither of them would communicate, meaning feelings would go unsaid until they all bubble to the surface... no. Not a recipe for a good relationship. Not one bit.

Mac is shy, but he's more self confident than Flutters...so he can hide it better.

Well, Caramac is the only decent male/male pairing. We need more.

For some reason I kinda like the idea of a Pokey Pierce/Caramel pairing. Possibly because their the only two Male background ponys that I like.

I base my ships around what I think the characters want. (Unless I'm just doing crack shipping. Then it's pretty much anything goes.)

I'm fine with M/M pairings, but I think that if you decide that two characters should be together so that there's another M/M pairing, you're doing it wrong. I don't choose pairings to have more M/F or F/F or M/M pairings.

My first ship was Flutterspike because she showered him with attention and he enjoyed it. My second ship was Appledash because they act like a married couple. I ship Twilight with Mac because of the lick and Smarty Pants and the fact that in my headcanon, they're the two smartest ponies in Ponyville helps. etc.

Also, Big Mac really is shy according to Applebloom and I trust her judgement on this.

Fluttermac confused me because it was already ridiculously popular before they'd been on screen together which only happened once in season 2.

EDIT: Also, I always saw the Apple family (the entire Apple family) as disaproving of Caramel, so I don't get why it's so popular to ship him with any of them.

heh the Fluttermac discussion reminds me of the "How every ship fic would really happen" set of shirt stories.

The Fluttermac one, their friends decide they are perfect for each other, and set them up on a date, during which, both of them spend the whole time simply sitting their in total silence and then say good night.

also I don't ship any Mane 6, only pony ship I really like and have as headcannon is Octavia/Vinyl, Lyra/Bon-Bon, Them, either way is fine, long as they are together, romantically, or just friends and roommates.

Also, out of any of the pairings I like, Vinyl/Octavia and Lyra/Bonbon are my actual OTP's, since I don't ship any of those ponys with anyone else.
