Twilight is indeed best pony.
As for the pig size thing, I dunno. It just looks too big. I can't put my finger on exactly why beyond "boars usually aren't that big". It works if you want to go with it, I just personally think that the boar doesn't need to be that big to be threatening.

If I made them smaller...they could come off as a race of the napoleons. Which might work. They can still be physically strong and tough without size, and they have a mouth full of teeth and their tusks.

@Applelight: I think the Hog size is fine. As for your other picture of Batty and Tender Care, Batty looks good, and Tender Care, actually looks kind of like a filly from that view.

Do you think ponies wear metal shoes regularly or do they just go about "barefoot?"
I would think working ponies might opt for shoes to protect their hooves but ponies like Rarity probably wouldn't go for the whole iron-shod thing.

Before I go to bed, I just to say that when I finally get a tablet, I hope that my work will be of decent standard. I know it's a bit scrappy at the moment, what with the wrong paper and messy pencil work. But, I just need the right equipment.

Considering that the purpose of the shoes in real life is to prevent damage to hooves when carrying a rider or pulling heavy loads, I'd bet that ponies who perform heavy manual labor wear shoes to protect their hooves. Although, now I'm thinking that a possible earth pony trait could be exceptionally sturdy hooves, meaning that they wouldn't have to wear shoes. Applejack and Big Mac certainly don't when they're pulling carts or applebucking.
