In order to get Hooficures rarity would have to have shoes pulled and reapplied afterwards so they could trim them.

I'm pretty sure only working ponies wear them... or maybe they aren't nailed on like real horse shoes are?

@Story Those are hoofprints. They don't have to have shoes to leave those kinds of prints, since their hooves are shaped that way to begin with.

Oh right. Also, I guess only the inner part of the hoof uses grannular jamming.

They are really stylized hoof prints, even in shod horses you can see an imprint of the inside (frog I think its called) of the hoof. Unless the dirt is really hard packed then you might only see the shoe print

Im guessing that in Ponyville the roads and areas where they walk is pretty hard packed unless it rained recently... so you might not see the frog imprint and it would look more like the stylized print.

In any case, it doesn't really matter how the show's simplified style does it. We just know that they don't have to wear shoes to leave arc-shaped prints.

Ok so the frog is the part of the hoof that you wouldn't see in the imprint, The inside of the hoof kinda is shaped like a pac man, with the frog being where the mouth is.
