I'll admit I was like, "oh my God, the dreaded Compressed Vice episode! Don't tell me this is what we can expect from this show from now on..."
To be honest... I still feel like that a little bit. Or to be precise, it's confirmed for me that Twilight Sparkle is the character most prone to Flanderization by the show's writers. They started her freak-outs so early in the episode, it was hard to build on them in a natural way.

Yeah, she didn't quite telefrag the ball. She 'ported into it, and then stood up. There probably has to be enough space to contain her.

So, I'm wondering, is there a trope for the individually-colored magic for each character? I remember something similar being used in Order of the Stick, as well.

It's sort of that way with the Powerpuff Girls, too.

...And for some reason, I never quite realized the connection between that show, and the trail Rainbow leaves when she flies before now...

Color Coded Magic? Nope, that didn't work.

It feels like it should be a trope. I can only think of 2, maybe 3 examples, but it feels like I've Seen It a Million Times, but just can't remember where.

Color-Coded for Your Convenience maybe?

Also, did anyone see the new Crossover commercials The Hub aired today? Like this one?

There's also this Megatron one, it has a small pony cameo.

Shouldn't we see if the new magic colors are here to stay first?

Celestia's got her sun-yellow magic in the new intro. I'm pretty sure it's here to stay.

We have Power Glows and Editorial Synaesthesia, both of which apply to their magic, but I can't think of the exact trope you're referencing. Could be worth YKTTWing.

^^ Nevermind, that's the one.

At first I thought you doubleposted. It's so confusing when two people have the same avatar.

We could always wait a week and see if Luna or other unicorns get their own spiffy colors. Maybe Luna's magic is a spooky black glow, adding to why everypony is apparently scared of her.

Hm, I wonder... Would Lyra's magic color be green, white, or gold? Does Sweetie Belle get pink magic? (Actually have we seen Sweetie use magic?) Curious, and more curious...

Thank you for not quoting Carrol on that last line.

No, I don't think we've seen Sweetie use any magic, or any younger Unicorns, for that matter.

Did anyone like the expressions that Twilight was making when she was losing it? I really cant help but feel that they took some advice from John K and Bob Clampett for the expressions.
Yeah, I was definitely getting a Ren and Stimpy vibe there, or at least as close as I'd want MLP to get to it.

On the plus side, this is the perfect episode to show to anyone who dismisses the show as "girly-girly fru-fru stuff." wink

And IMO, the MLP main page could use a good editing and trim-down. It's a tad heavy on the natter and fluff.

Somepony on the Episode Recap page pointed out that the nest on top of Twilight's head is the one she made in "Winter Wrap-Up." I completely missed that.
