I do really enjoy drawing, but I never get the peace and quiet to do it. Every time I retreat to my room...oh, family starts stalking near by, constantly distracting me.

Things will change from next week onward though. I'll be doing it all in the corner of the library.

[up]

Very true indeed.

But my hobbies are more important than drawing. Like programming for instance.

Hey, serious question,

what if I went for a very simplified look for this comic, rather than this current detailed style?

Try it out, and see what you think. It's your art, not ours.

Then that might be better, a simplified style tends to work for swiftness and efficiency and they can look just as good as a detailed on. Go for it.

I was just being all, like, who's to say anything is important, you know? What if we've got it all wrong?

Wow, I feel like if I was a stoner, I would be hilarious.

Ah, Art, Alongside with writing those two things are things that I just now am getting into after at least 10 years of neglect in favor of other forms of entertainment, I must say MLP has had a dramatic effect on my worldview.

@Apple: Mm. Well, the first couple of things I can point out are that, at that angle, we wouldn't see any of his right side(left from out perspective). The line of the body would be flush with his neck and right from hoof. As it stand it appears like his body is facing us head on - and that he's very fat at that, since horses legs are on the side of their bodies, he'd have to be very large in order for his sides to go past them. And while real-world anatomy doesn't always apply to ponies, any horse that fat would be unable to stand up. Because it's legs would break.

Beyond that the only big problem is with his legs, front and back. The front legs I've already noted, they look like they're coming from the inside of his body, but the hind legs have other issues. The big one is that his left knee appears far too thin.

I also have a bit of trouble with his wings - you look like you've put them more on his shoulders, while in the show they tend to be around the center of the body. and this is more a personal preferences but I like my wings to be more realistic, which would mean their base spanning most of the length of the body in order to catch enough air. But as I said, that's a personal choice.

On the whole though, It looks very good! I really like his face, that sort of smug bastard look hes got going on, and the new hairstyle looks great! I have to do a bit of work right now, send a resume and a couple emails, but once I'm done that if you'd like I might be able to do a couple quick sketches of what his limbs might look like a bit better?

I'm almost considering learning to draw with my mouse, but I have do idea how you even go about drawing things that don't look all shaky like that. I know it's possible, though, because Sessalisk does his art with a mouse and it's awesome.

Hey, that's your avatar!

Lyra is pretty good a drawing, though.

Looked through his gallery and noticed crossover fannart for Un Chien Andalou.

Wow. It's true.

I learned to draw with a mouse by cheating. Paint Tool Sai's curve tool makes it so easy to manipulate a line it's almost exactly like drawing, you get to make all the adjustments you want without the need to use your fingers in the typical artistic manner.

And Lurker, if you are an artist of some form that uses paper and pencil but can't get stuff online you could cheat like me and Applelight do and use a camera to photograph it and post it online. Won't be perfect quality, but it'll be a way.

Wow, Sess is amazing, and I think I know how they did it, they just had a ton of patience, because that sort of thing would take forever wit ha mouse.

@Perpetual: I'm pretty sure Sess is a girl.

Anyway, I've contemplated learning to draw with just a mouse, but the inking alone is enough of a pain, and I vastly prefer regular sketching. Doesn't take nearly as long to get it to look the way I want it to as a whole.

A camera is nice for sketches and stuff, but if I ever wanted to get it online in a clean form, I'd have to scan it. I haven't even learned how to do it yet, so it's not really worth it going out and buying the supplies just to try something that I can't really show anything for.

I have the stupidest idea now, though, and it won't go away...

[up]I knew that. Stupid internet defaults...
