I can already see the problems. The head and face are ok...but the bloody legs and body never seem to look right. And there's something off with the wings too.

Also, I have no idea how these wings are supposed to look closed.

Urgh...well, what do you all think?

I can come up with a design for the wings to close. In the meanwhile....... practice, this is not one of your best. The body and the legs need work.

I know what my problem is. I don't have a proper pony anatomy guide to assist me. I'm having to use google images, and the crapiness of this is showing.

His right (our left) wing should be more out of sight right?

@Applelight: Speaking from my extremely limited experience, I think the problem is that his legs are disproportionately narrow, as are the connection of the wings to his body. His neck is also a bit long.

@Apple Not really, but we need to be viewing the wings from the same angle we're viewing the rest of his body. Right now they're facing straight forward while the rest of him is at an angle.

I don't have a tablet or a scanner to use to draw, only an iPad, which takes forever and has next to no skill transfer to a better medium. I'd love to draw stuff otherwise.

@Applelight; Yeah, it can be wonky sometimes. I still have trouble getting their back legs to work properly. Stupid weird joint positions.

This is way I can't wait to pick up a tablet. I can easily go over the mistakes without having to start all over again.

@Story: I draw maybe half an hour a day if I'm lucky. Just get a sketchpad and doodle or something.

@Applelight: Yeah, a tablet would be enormously helpful; the digital inking would go so much faster...

Also, is it true that I could draw out his basic shape...then save it...so that I can adjust his expression/outfit etc whilst maintaining the exact same pose?

Drawing is the thing I'm doing when I should be doing something else. The key to improving is replacing whatever you used to waste time with with drawing. Whatever hobby you were dinnhilstnprocrastinating you use to improve the craft. It's not a lack of time, it's replacing time.
