Ponies seem to have mental abilities on par with humans.
Funny you should bring that up; back in season 1, that was part of my headcanon for why there seemed to be so many more mares than Stallions. In the cases of same-sex couples, the females would be able to have children via that method (magically), and always have female babies, whereas males who had to go through the surrogate process had equal chances of having a male or female foal. Over time it skewed the gender ratios towards a female majority.

@ Story, oh yeah i remember that scene, and yeah it's totally true.
Build a fool proof system, and the world will create a better fool.
My random thoughts
Seriously they still use firefly lamps!
And yet they also have modern flashlights.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.
There were also hints of modernity in MMDW and FAP.

Oh yeah, they have a massive dam, and wood-frame roller printers.
As far as I'm aware, mares can't have babies without a stallion.
Yeah, Andromeda is heading for you. You got over 9000 years until it collides.
What is the most advanced piece of technology we have seen so far?

Ha. FAP.
IS FUNNY.
Back in Black, and by black I mean BLU.
I'm gonna say probably between X-Ray and the video game. I'm not sure how complex X-ray machines are, but I do know that even Arcade Cabinet games are crazy complex, since they require a pretty high level of computation even for early 'ai'.
The arcade cabinet is probably a vacuum-tube type system, so I reckon the X-Ray machine might be more advanced (unless they have a spell for that).
@Gex: I am ashamed of how hard that made me laugh.
@Ace: Aw, I am so glad that they are friends.
X-Ray was in use, if I remember correctly, since 1896.
Commercial arcade game was first in use in 1972.

Well if you assume the bald patient had chemotherapy, that's pretty advanced.

I would say the 3D game rocket dj playe... OH wait! That won't be discovered until...

We could just say that they are as advanced as the writers need them to be and leave it at that.
Or as advanced as they feel like it.
