Well, given that magic replaced electricity in the setting, it might just be that magic makes AI easier to create than it is in reality or something, but it isn't practical on a larger scale. I mean we never see how advanced those games were; they could be Pong for all we know.

I reckon they have some fairly advanced tech, but it's not widely adopted because they lack large-scale mass production.

Keep in mind they may not even need particularly ridiculous circuitry for AI. They could just, like, make a magical snapshot of somepony's mind.
