Show Stoppers, if memory serves. They got into a lake or something.

Show Stoppers, during the cutie mark "treasure hunt".

Yeah, it was Show Stoppers.

I'm pretty sure the CMC would end up in orbit if they thought they could get space travel cutie marks.

On another note, best crossover ever. (or if it craps out for you like it did for me, it's Pinkie Pie and the Brain)

An Arbitrary Ranking: The Most Mentally Unstable Mane Cast -

  1. Twilight Sparkles
  2. Fluttershy
  3. Pinkie Pie
  4. Rarity
  5. Rainbow Dash
  6. Applejack

I think Applejack is pretty mentally stable, at least compared to others. Twilight is definitely the most dangerous, if only because of her power.

[up] So it's not really a stability chart, it's a "danger if they lose that stability" chart.

I'm surprised noone's made a big deal about Pinkylicious.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.

@Count - If it was that, Pinkie would have been the second.

And yet you put Twilight first "because of her power".

Don't get me wrong, Twilight should be first, but because of her multiple freakouts, not because she's got the most mystical oomph, which is neither here nor there from a mental stability perspective.

And I put Applejack on the bottom because she is "pretty mentally stable."

I didn't say anything about Twilight's magic making her being more unstable, at least not directly.

Neurotics with magic power. Truly a force to be reckoned with.

[up][up] Ah, I must have misinterpreted that bit about "Twilight is definitely the most dangerous, if only because of her power".

In my defence, it's not quite 6am yet.

Pinkie appearing inside the mirror has to be one of the most WTF!? moments in the series.

@Count Dorku - Ah, that time of the day. It is indeed very tiring.

Maybe Twilight was hallucinating the mirror thing.

Which only makes her more insane.

Pinkie appearing inside the mirror has to be one of the most WTF!? moments in the series.
Those for whom "It's Pinkie Pie!" isn't an adequate explanation theorize that Twilight simply hallucinated that bit.

Applejack seems to be the most mentally stable out of all six ponies. Sure, there were the episodes "Applebuck Season" and "The Last Roundup", but it looks more like she was being stubborn, as opposed to being mentally unstable! wink

Mental image: Applejack as one of the noble gases. But probably not helium.

What (physical) element would everyone be?

She began to go a bit crazy in Applebuck season, but that was from lack of sleep as opposed to outright losing it.

Only time AJ went a bit loopy or got a bit mentally unbalanced was Applebuck Season, and that was due to lack of sleep, and a concussion.

Ah, CMFIS. How you strike down even the sanest of ponies.

Now I'm beginning to wonder what CMFIS-induced freakouts from, say, Cheerilee or Big Mac would look like.

I still deny that CMFIS actually exists. Why can't a pony freaking out over something they would believably freak out about be just that and not some mental/magical condition?

[up][up] I treat CMFIS as just a kind of shorthand for "got stressed out in a cutiemark-related context and freaked".

@Perpetual: Again, most people don't think that it's a disorder that causes the freakout, it's just the name they give the freakouts when they happen. People just noticed similarities in freakouts that had to do with a special talent and gave it a name.

I've seen the term thrown around enough in non-joking context to know that its existence as an actual condition is entrenched fanon with plenty of people. Otherwise they wouldn't have given it a name and called it a syndrome.
