@D Roy: It's a common villain trait that also exists In Real Life.

The problem with nigh-omnipotence is that it tends to make people overconfident.
Also, you know, the "nigh-" part.

The truly omnipotent would just go "Ohnogiantrainbowlaser AAAAAAAAHGFSDFDSFDSSDFSD— just kidding."

@D Roy: Here's my theory about Chrysalis. She probably thought that since she could harness the Power of Love to power herself up, so if she let Cadance and SA get together she could just absorb that love as well and get even more powerful.

@d Roy What do you mean? I that doesn't seem like something that's common knowledge. Just because you impersonate someone doesn't mean that you know the full extent of their abilities.

@Ace - Not nearly as often in fiction. In Real Life, they tend to be like that because there are so many factors to consider that some ones just slip by them. Not so much in much simpler fiction.

Since I've somehow become a freshm'n in my time away, I've been learning about Greek Myth. I wonder if anyone's ponified the 12 (13 counting Hades) Olympians, or given the princesses godly titles?

I think Celestia would be goddess of friendship, the sky, and the sun.

@Lurker - When you impersonate someone, you usually do thorough research on the said person.

@Bad: It's basically the reason that Crow mentioned. She started off badass, but it's hard to view her as a credible threat when she uses "make the trees look scary" and "chop a sea serpant's mustache off" as her primary strategies when she's shown the capability to just zap them right off the bat.

@D Roy: even if she researched Cadance's personality, there's no reason that this particular ability would come up. Cadance isn't a fighter; Chrysalis had no reason to believe that "give my fiance a power boost" was a power that she had. In that sense she probably did some research on SA and I'd say she did a pretty good job of neutralizing him.

@Gex While the divinity of Princesses is questionable (they look to me to operate similar to the New Gods in the DCU. Immortal and immensely powerful, but nowhere near all-powerful), they appear to represent a single concept, rather than multiple ones.

Wait, what was that I skipped over? A complete Season One set? For real? With commentaries? $24.99?!?

I guess that despite being all evil there was still aspects of Luna in there that didn't want to actually harm them.

@d Roy Like I said, what exactly she is capable of wouldn't be common knowledge. I doubt that the full extent of any of the Princesses' power is documented.

@ JT: You miss out the parts where she destroys the ground beneath the Mane Six's feet almost causing three of them to plummet to their deaths and sics a Manticore on them.

I wish they had season 2 songs for violin though. It's a neglected instrument. Even flute is better represented

That's a funny way to spell viola.

@Lurker - Shouldn't info like Cadance being a love goddess a really basic info? On that note, shouldn't she have done at least some research on Cadance's personality before trying to impersonate her?

[up][up]Those are both weird ways of spelling saxophone. I'm trying to learn it, actually.

@Badwolf: True, but neither of those is much worse than the stuff that happens in Ponyville on a regular basis. The cliff thing is badass, but the manticore thing backfired pretty badly. The thin ended up liking them. If she would have spent the whole time unleashing disasters on them, it would have worked better.

@D Roy: Well, she apparently did well enough that Twilight was the only one who wasn't fooled. I'd say that she did pretty good. As for the knowledge that Cadance is a Love Goddess, that might be true, but it still doesn't necessarily imply that she's able to give other ponies a power boost. For all anypony knows Cadance is just a really good matchmaker.

Well JT has ponified Palutena so there's probably a Hades lying around.

@ Storyyeller: Pff, what is a viola but a fat violin? Actually, violas have a really cool sound. I wanna learn to play.

I did see at least one song for viola on the site too.

@d Roy I don't think that it would be. Heck, Twilight didn't even recognize her full and official title, and she's extremely well read. Considering her (as of yet unknown) role in The Crystal Empire, it's likely that she's not from Equestria in the first place. Sure, she could have gotten the intel somehow, but her plan was running on a very strict time limit. Not exactly conducive to doing that much leg work on short notice.

@d Roy: Chrysalis probably isn't all that into roleplaying whoever she takes over. I bet she usually leaves that to minions, and only did it herself this time because of the importance of the mission or because she wanted to be a pretty pony princess.
